  1. The 2009 will have the higher ratio gearbox which I think was used from late 2006 up until the major revamp in late 2009. Best of luck towing 3000kg with it is all I can say But if it's not going to be towing it isn't too bad, apart from the usual terrible quality Ford paint, and there is a known gearbox issue.
  2. LC79 is plated to tow 3500kg and had a GTW of 6700kg, or that's what was on the one I looked at. They have a huge nose weight of 350kg though.
  3. I really need to sort out a new truck but the idea of losing 500kg off my truck payload to tow a 3500kg trailer is rubbish, I had a long day delivering in my LR yesterday and my body hurts today. The LC79 is a nice truck but having driven one with a 4.2 NA it is gutless, on paper it pushes out less power (both HP and Torque) than my 300tdi with full width intercooler, TBH I was amazed just how gutless it was on a test drive. You will not get a RHD new LC79 with the 4.2 NA engine into the UK, it doesn't meet the emission requirements, although there is a company (in holland I think) that can get the engine to meet emission requirements, but they will only sell you a complete truck, not a kit. I have been told there is some loophole about bringing them in as LHD though. as to longevity, the 4.2 NA has a different block to the 4.2 turbo, the 4.2 turbo is the one to have to last but it appears it's no longer built, but whatever engine they are all very very juicy, I met someone who owns a 4.2 turbo and his first comment was "lovely truck" his second was "stupidly thirsty". I would think towing 3500kg with the 4.2 NA would be hard work, you can get a kit to turbo the 4.2 NA, but you won't have the strengthened block, all that said it was a lovely truck to drive. Not sure how it would work with the Australian V8 version and emissions, but apparently it would be very expensive by the time it got here, from memory if they are over a certain age then emissions don't matter when importing them from anywhere. Had the LC79 been more powerful I would be driving one now. I was hoping the new Amorok V6 was going to be 3500kg towing but having spoken to the dealer yesterday it's towing capacity is going to be 3100kg, 100kg less than the 2.0ltr version, so that was a waste of time on VW's part I may go have a look at the new Hilux, Rangers from experience are rust buckets, and the DMax still has dealers denying there is an engine issue. So all in all not much choice really Perhaps I will just fit new comfier seats in the LR and get it soundproofed better.

    From the album: bike

  5. It pays to check the plate of any of them including 130's. we have come across a couple of 130's plated at 3050kg My 130 alloy body with wood floor non tipper has a payload of 1400kg
  6. Definitely worth putting a new galv chassis on, while you are about it repair and rot on the bulkhead and seat box section and dinitrol them and you are good for many years.
  7. I have a Homedics AR20 bought mainly for hay fever season, I would find it too noisy to have in the living room with my fire throughout the winter.
  8. At those prices it would be mad to hire it out machine only. We get more than that 1.5 ton rate per day for hiring out rotavators
  9. Out of interest what are people paying for 1.5 tonners ? I seam to be doing more and more hire with myself driving and am thinking of replacing the old JCB 8014 with something new but have been asked if I would hire it out self drive.
  10. I only use Neosorexa Gold now Tried Slaymor but the little buggers just ate it and bred some more. They were all gone within 3-5 days with the Neosorexa and couldn't smell a thing.
  11. We were going to place our last order with Smartlift, decent prices, but was put off by their terms for what was a fair sized order. We ended up getting our last lot from MCA Kingston, a little bit dearer but much better quality than others we have dealt with.
  12. I have a load of new but printed bags at £2.00 each plus VAT & postage Probably have 100-150 left PM me if interested
  13. Be sure to tell the dealer it must be 3500kg towing capacity you want, and put it in writing. When hilux's went from 2000kg to 2500kg years ago I ordered one telling the dealer I wanted a 2500kg tow, 3 weeks after getting it I thought perhaps I ought to check the plate and I had been delivered a 2000kg tow. Several calls to dealer and 2 weeks later the truck was replaced with a new 2500kg version and an apology. Identical trucks in every way except for the plate under the bonnet.
  14. If you had agreed to go when she first mentioned it then you are out of order. If you didn't want to go you should have said so from the off.
  15. One of these would do me Jeep Brute
  16. One bloody lucky motorcyclist to get away with broken ribs, if what is being reported is true. Looks like the axles of the trailer saved him.
  17. I was bought a Bosch 115mm years ago and although we have hammered it, the thing has been bullet proof, however had it not been bought for me I would never have bought another Bosch after they refused to replace a brand new industrial circular saw that burnt out on the second day we had it. Otherwise Makita and Hitachi for me.
  18. Been a cracking day Had to do one delivery this morning, then took the bike up to Sizewell, had a really nice ride out. Then a walk along the front at Harwich. Finished off with pie and chips and beer in the garden.

    Pain

Osteopath every 5-6 weeks for me, best thing I have ever done
  20. Can't argue with that
  21. Never had a problem with my old 8014 JCB, basic but reliable, it gets the job done and was pretty cheap, it has been far more reliable than the new hitachi we had on site recently.
  22. anglia vehicles John was a very helpful chap, but I test drove one and wasn't impressed, gutless for a 4.2 engine imo
  23. Definitely the right thing to do. It's good to have some ethics. But are you sure she was on about the pump work
  24. Have tried several methods over the years. Proper hiab pallet forks are a pain unless you have either a rotator fitted or two people, one working the crane and one straightening the forks as you put them into the pallet, make sure if you try them you get a self adjusting set. Scaffold poles and chains are just bloody dangerous for lifting pallets imo, tried it and they slip all over the place. We now use a set of 5 metre slings nailed to a piece of 4x2 that is 4 foot long, just a couple of clout nails on each end is enough, once the wood is pushed under the pallet you know each end sticking out is the same length, works a treat and have been using it for the last 4 years. Edit: if you have pallets back to back on a lorry then you probably do need to use crane forks
  25. Sorry to hear about your dog stubby That's a cracking pup though. I would love another Cocker.
