  1. Keep up Someone posted towards the start of this thread about the strobe function on some torches. Although one of mine is quite heavy and would give you a headache.
  2. The suggestion of torches is a good one. I have a couple of really powerful led torches that do the strobe thingy and it isn't something I would want aimed at my eyes, you literaly can't see a bloody thing and also can't see what the person holding it is just about to hit you with.
  3. I hope there is only one of them and you are a bloody good shot. Don't forget to put a fresh CO2 cylinder in just before you shoot them, which itself will be a challenge under pressure, because if you leave one in it to be ready they empty themselves quickly through leakage, also with every shot you will have less and less power and it is a significant drop, I would be amazed if you were cracking kneecaps after a few shots.
  4. A lot of builders are now holding off until the weather changes, some are turfing the day before people move in so they only have to water it for a day then leaving the owners the responsibility to water it. If it was me I would ask the builder to wait. Supposed to cool down towards the end of next week thankfully.
  5. It's hit our trade quite badly, who in thier right mind want's to lay turf in this weather. We were filling bulk bags with topsoil but gave up after it just got far too hot in and on the machines, but it has given us the chance to get all the yard hardstanding done, so not overly bothered.
  6. We have had several Same's over the years, I still own a 90 Explorer 2 which has nearly 10k hours on it, mechanically they are excellent tractors imo, it has never had any major issues and it had quite a hard life for several years running a fairly big stone burrier, however they seam to suffer to rusting body panels and door bottoms badly, but the later ones have quite a few plastic bits on and I believe all glass doors, check all the linkages on the back end for wear, especially the lower shaft that goes through the rear casting. One problem I have with them is they are really noisy in the cab, especially gearbox whine. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another though.
  7. Hadn't heard of the older ones doing that but there was a local same dealer who way overspecified the loader size on some new tractors hence there were several early durado's that snapped the bell housings. They weren't Same dealers for too long.
  8. Thanks I knew if it came up I would recognise it and it was Chorley Nissan.
  9. A bit of a long shot and I have searched like mad to find the post that they were mentioned in. There was a thread about the new Navara pick up and in it was mentioned a dealer someone on here bought from and that they were pretty good, I had a price from them but accidentaly deleted their email and now can't remember who the dealer was. Some names would be good if possible as my Landy really does need to go, and the Navara looks like it is probably going to be my best option. Thanks
  10. Brake pipes rust around the fuel tank Mine is an 09 and a rust bucket, I doubt I would ever touch another Ford after this one.
  11. It's tracking in both high and low is weak, in high I can live with it being a bit useless but I have really struggled with it in low getting out of situations that have taken a lot of work to get out of, shame because apart from that its a lovely digger, it has had the track motor pressures put up a bit which has helped but it still gets bogged down.
  12. Don't always believe the Takeuchi weight lifting charts, our TB230 doesn't lift what the book says it should. Also if looking at 2.8 ton the TB230 has very week tracking power when you are in boggy/soft ground, apart from that it's a cracking machine.
  13. Same explorer would be my choice, I have had mine for over 20 years it has10k hours on it and is still sweet, cab doors rust as does the bodywork behind the rear wheels.
  14. Can you tell me where you have seen this rated as 7 tonne MTW ? I have been looking and can only get to 6610kg I wish I could find something to replace my 7000kg Landy but I doubt one of these would survive very long in our job. I have recently looked at a Iveco 4x4 but the payload is very low
  15. Yep that's exactly where the one I caught myself on was, underneath and didn't expect it there.
  16. I have actually caught myself quite badly on a galanising spike
  17. I believe Ifor now have their own galvanising plant, or so I was told.
  18. I do most of my day towing trailers and my tri axle with the crane on is a dream to tow, I would always choose a tri axle over a twin axle unless the loss of payload was going to be a major problem. Not worrying so much about load distribution on the tri axle is a huge bonus for me as I unload pallets at different addresses.
  19. How big is the diesel elevator ? May be interested if you were separating
  20. I have not been overly impressed with the tracking power of my Takeuchi tb230, we have had it stuck on the heap a few times when screening, it appears to have loads of power using both track in forward or reverse, but try turning on a loose heap and it hates it and bogs down, apart from that it's a lovely machine, but I doubt I would buy another, although I have spoke to a few people who have had similar issues with other makes.
  21. I have looked at them and thought they looked a bit flimsy, also from memory the floor with its big gap between the rails meant you couldn't carry smaller diggers. I will be interested to see how you get on.
  22. The Tracker retrieve and higher end tracker units also use VHF, they also have some pretty clever stuff if you have several machines parked together and one is being messed about with. GPS won't work in a container, VHF does
  23. I came across a charcoal hand-warmer in my workshop when I was tidying up on Monday, it was in amongst a whole load of stuff I bought 15 or so years ago, I tried it Monday, the fuel sticks are still OK but they do smell, I kept it in my pocket all day but warmed my hands on it when they got really cold, I was surprised it got as hot as it did and it burned for about 10 hours, I will definitely use it again when it's really cold.
  24. They have been on there a little while now, not surprised at that price.
