  1. I use an MSR windpro 2 stove, takes up no room at all and have an adapter to use cheaper gas cylinders, boil water in a saucepan to make a coffee with the Aeropress and then warm a soup up in the saucepan, it boils water and heats stuff really quickly. Could probably do lots of other stuff on it if I could be bothered.
  2. Been a bit busy since the new site appeared so haven't sent much time on here, but one thing that I didn't like is the thread details not coming up when you hold your mouse over the subject, from that I used to decide if it was worth a read or not, now I have the view the thread instead. Can't say I'm a huge fan atm but I really hate change and it will grow on me.
  3. 3rd is leak back off the motor, it's a bit of a pita really.
  4. Had it a couple of weeks now, very impressed with it so far, it doesn't struggle at all with the 750mm bucket on or picking up bags of soil, certainly a bit nicer to drive than my 8014 I have been offered a demo on a Remu screening bucket, but we are currently having some issues with what size screen to order it in, and they aren't changeable to a different size cheaply, but if we do I need to put a 3rd line return on it.
  5. That's some serious piece of kit Eddie. I have been moving my firewood heap the last couple of days to clear up the yard and I am really surprised at the size of some of the lumps the Takeuchi is capable of lifting.
  6. Hope he gets on OK eggs
  7. Twas my terrible grammar, I meant 9 or 10" auger, the posts are 2' deep.
  8. We had a load of Granite chips in bags, when I moved them just under a year later all the tops bags just fell apart, which was down to UV. Bag quality is quite an issue, and print quality is another problem, we currently have a load of bags from MCA where the print rubs off far too easily.
  9. We can run the x3500, one dealer said we should run an x4500 but that is right at the top end of the auxiliary flow. Wondering if I should have gone for the x3000 now though as I could also run that on the 8014
  10. Post hole borer ordered today, but what size auger would people suggest for 4" concrete posts that are being concreted in 9" or 10"
  11. Thanks for the replies. I had been looking at the augertorque units, dealer is just getting me a price for it all.
  12. Any suggestions for a good make of post hole borer ?
  13. I thought the 71-3 was very basic compared to the TB230, order was placed for TB230 this afternoon. It's main use will be blending soils and composts, filling bags and feeding a small screener, with the occasional bit of hire with me driving, because the materials we blend are light so it's having a 750mm bucket for that purpose.
  14. I have had a real good look into this today. The weight quoted for the kubota in their brochure is not the operating weight, Takeuchi are quoting operating weight, so if you take off the bucket and operator weight from the takeuchi they are pretty much identical weight wise and should go in an Ifor GH1054 without a bucket attached. Indespension now have a lightweight plant trailer with a 2920kg payload, which I am going to have a look at tomorrow.
  15. The plan was to tow it behind the defender.
  16. Well this is a tough one. Looked at the tak tb230 and the kabota 71-3 this week, on paper the kubota has slightly more reach and lift capacity and wider and longer track footprint, but it's very close, but when you drive the takuechi it's miles ahead of the kubota. Now to decide which one, I am leaning towards the takuechi. but worried I might regret not having the larger capacity.
  17. Thanks for the opinions. The JCB is out of the running However I hadn't realised Kabota have done away with the 61 and the 71 i'm sure has been brought down in weight slightly. We have a very local kabota dealer, but something that has concerned me is the Takeuchi dealer is a good hour + drive away. They have a new 71 coming in next week so am going to have a look at it, price wise it's about the same money.
  18. Anyone have any experience of Takeuchi TB230 or JCB 8026 ? It's a bit of a toss up between the two, both would be new but I had a look at a couple of year old JCB the other day at a dealers and the cab was as rusty as anything, when I discussed with them which was best they said the Takeuchi was a way better machine than the JCB would be, and our local hydraulic place say they have had a lot of rams off new machines come in snapped recently, price wise they are pretty much the same, but JCB offered 3 year warranty and first service free. It will mainly be used for filling bulk bags and loading a screener and then occasional jobs out on hire with me driving it. Obviously the JCB is zero tail swing and the Takeuchi isn't Opinions appreciated.
  19. Sad news My thoughts go out to his family
  20. I believe Ifor's have been registered on the TER register for quite a few years now, however if I remember rightly they charge you to check if it's stolen. Alternatively phone Ifor and they keep their own register of stolen trailers.
  21. Only 3100kg towing capacity on the V6, which is mad.
  22. I recently looked at the new hilux. Is it just me who struggled to get in and out because of the steering wheel getting in the way of my knees Also the fact that if it's towing 3500kg the payload in the truck can only be around 300kg. New Isuzu is now only 1900cc instead of 2.5
  23. My Dad used to cut up meat for people on the bandsaw in his mill He said the only problem was the rats love the meat dust
  24. I had suffered with hayfever really badly since a child, and was getting worse year after year, and it just became bloody miserable and depressing in the end. All the drugs didn't work eventually. I ended up on the strongest stuff you can take for hayfever (can't remember the name of the stuff) I started getting breathing problems with it, so was sent to see the local asthma nurse, she got me to try something that has totally changed my life. As soon as you get in from work get straight in the bath or shower and put on all clean clothes, and all your clothes, towels and especially your bed sheets should be dried inside. I now take a spoon of local honey every day, and if things get worse (which is very rare) I have an homedics pollen filter and sometimes use haymax. Those few things have made such a huge difference, I haven't taken any drugs for 2 years now. I think the biggest thing was drying the bedsheets and clothes in the house, they act like a huge pollen filter when hanging on the line. Got to be worth a try.
  25. I will give them a try on monday, thanks.
