  2. I had the same problem with the ventilated bags, they settle more than the full ones. I add a low strap around the base of the bags to limit the play, it helps a lot. And I always check the straps after the first 5 km. Mini MilitiaApp Lock
  3. Who knows, all I can say is he was very good at her job! I am kind of missing them.

Chainsaw personal protective equipment (PPE) FISA query response In response to recent queries to FISA on PPE, Andy Sloss chair of the FISA Chainsaw Working Group has prepared some advice. PPE is a fundamental piece of kit when using a chainsaw, not least chainsaw protective trousers. These should always be worn when working a chainsaw, but the choice of protection level and protection type should be determined through a risk assessment. Type-C trousers may appear to cover all bases, providing protection the full way around both legs, but this added bulk and material could increase fatigue for the wearer. Fatigue is known to be a major driver in forestry accidents, and can be exacerbated by heat stress, fluid and electrolyte loss from excessive sweating, and the extra effort required to move around in bulkier PPE. The nature of chainsaw work and challenging terrain is already physically demanding, so the right balance of comfort and protection is important. Research into non-technical skillssupports the importance of good decision making, situational awareness and cognitive readiness for operator safety, which could be hampered by the effects of fatigue. The key is finding the right balance of protection for the work situation and the individual. This is where a risk assessment helps with making that decision. Type-C trousers are primarily intended for workers who may find themselves in confined or dynamic positions, like climbers/arborists, and run a higher risk of striking anywhere other than the front and inside of the leg. There is justification for them to also be used where operators are inexperienced and/or occasional users, or will be largely static while working. HSE’s Chainsaws at Work guidesupports this (page 8 – leg protection). This doesn’t rule out their use in other circumstances, but it will be beneficial to consider the added physical effects of wearing them. While PPE rightly has its place, the risk of cuts should be controlled collectively along with good training and competence, maintenance of the saw and its safety features, good working practices and chainsaw discipline, awareness of body position and ergonomics, and of course supervision and mentoring. PPE sits at the bottom of the hierarchy of controls and won’t always offer 100% protection. Where you employ and therefore provide PPE for your employees, it’s important to consult with them throughout the risk assessment process to ensure their needs and work situations are considered, and they have a choice in the most comfortable, and appropriate, types of chainsaw trousers.

  13. Tuna, sweetcorn, pepper, onion, tomatoes, celery and rice with a dollop of mayonnaise! Had this since I was a kid but mine rate it at the same level of sprouts or my legendary chicken chunder!
  14. And once you have poured it in and rolled the tank about to coat the inside pour it back in the tin seal it up and keep it for the next tank. It says on the tin to bin it but I have used part tins several times, it's just real hard, fuel resistant paint you could use it anywhere.
  15. No thanks, that got turned off in less than half a second.
  16. Did this get solved? I’m having the same issue. Occasionally a small drop of the saw will cause the intake pipe/boot to pull away from the carb. I have replaced all springs but I’m unsure if there isn’t something else I’m missing as there is a fair bit of play at the rear of the saw. It’s hard with no other saw to reference from.
  17. i have a Stihl 2 in one sharpener. of late the price for the files just keeps going up. The files are peculiar to stihl, so i am stuck, not being able to shop around. Radmore and Tucker say that , you get about 8 sharpenings to the chain. This is getting pricey. The flat box file is stupidly pricey. i am now considering an electric sharpener. i am hoping that i do not get conned into buying a chinese knock off. afterall sharpening, is a precision operation. yet with this stihl cutomer services talk out of thier backside, resulting in wasting your time. Oregon, on the other hand, are quite helpful, so i am looking into getting one of thier sharpeners. i have a Stihl 120 battery saw. with a 1/4' pico chain. Oregon sharpeners are presently ticking the boxes for me. Yet having one of thiers could be time-consuming, getting to learn how to get it down to an art. The discs are a separate issue. maintaining/dressing the disc. Then changing the discs to address the rakers. Then the chain has to be cleaned before sharpening takes place, the thing is. dealers do not know anything. the onus is on the user
