Did it a few years back- never been asked for- mind you I never bothered getting the plastic card so it's a good job. Quite honestly- if you fail this test you shouldn't be allowed shopping in ASDA let alone working on a building site
  9. I've started old mowers two or three pulls when been out of action for several years. Gumming up carburetter myth busted we regularly use old 2 stroke mixed up- must do as cans are not labelled 1,2,3,4 so they must get ignored sometimes Never had a problem- use 50:1 stihl 2 stroke mix Never had a problem with Supermarket petrol or diesel:confused1:

  17. and if the guy who quotes is one of us on here:sneaky2: I have never asked to see a quote and undercut Even when the customer wants to show you it
  18. basically best to quote to get the job- then if you have underpriced you have learnt a valuable lesson I used to do it all the time when I was younger- I was always busy. Now - rarely
  19. impressed simple but clever
  20. you're so right about doctors they say men don't go to docs enough but when we do we get crap so not surprising then

  22. Yup It may be great for milling but it's not worth trying to sell it Makes great firewood - splits easy- seasons quickly- burns hot
  23. lazy gits
  24. Expanding without too much stress:laugh1: It's not that so much as being able to cope when the inevitable stress occurs Get a hobby/sport- anything to get your mind away from work and you will find stress easier to deal with- I know- not easy when you are trying to develop a business. But- it is very important and don't overlook it. Try to keep weekends free always and only use saturday as a day extra if things go pete tong Have flexibility in the system and don't price up too tight hours wise- the weather will always play a part in the profitability of any job Be prepared to walk away- thats from jobs and from people who just grate on you. Above all be prepared to say NO!
