usual winter log issues we burnt mainly unseasoned oak last winter and it was fantastic- burnt really hot and when swept the liner had hardly any soot in and when we put a camera up there it was clean I think it's down to the stove:thumbup1:- draws like a furnace Oh yes and the fire lighter:001_tt2:

So what happens if something goes wrong I've never known a climber with anything other than 38 & 39 30& 31 Have I been winging it all these years Are we saying if you damage yourself with a big bar then get the 15" bar out the bag and drip blood on it Must admit this obsession with tickets for everything is making work very difficult. -
And if you do collect it, he may well get the chance to find out he was wrong and come back to you- then you'll be friends

I'd love to know the definate answer to these questions Like do you need a ticket to use a saw bigger than 15inch I'm sure you do but Do you really How many on here use a 36inch bar with a cs 31 ticket -
Not getting at you mate but I would have mentioned this as he brought it up first I'm just as guilty though- always thinking of the perfect response when mulling it over at some later time Don't let him bully you. Phone him up tomorrow and say you've considered his position and you will return his cheque and collect the wood. You keep your pride and he has to find someone else to deliver more dry wood.

people will always say you're too expensive If you really want expensive B&Q are offering nets of H/W for £7.50 this year 10 logs Yes I do realise this is a different market but thats an uplift pricewise on last year of about 20-30%

Not that many pubs round here I'd recommend though a long walk gets me to some good ones- fortunately it's the crap ones that have closed But theres a cracking micro brewery kentbrewery.com up round gollums way £1.50 a pint for 4% pale that keeps for about 4 days and doesn't need settling. Worth dropping into if you're ever near Rochester/Maidstone Comes in 18pint casks which at £27 is good value I think Tastes fantastic and doesn't leave you feeling hung over. Didn't see any barmaids though:thumbdown:

Thanks That makes it clear We have been following other rules but I see the sense in what you say I can now load my truck up fully to 3.5t (cabstar) plus tow a TW150 Previously I thought the 750kg had to be taken off the GVW meaning not much chip- would have been silly really

Just checked maximum authorised mass on the dvla website It says max weight of vehicle or trailer but doesn't distinguish What I mean is Does this mean you can have a vehicle rated 3.5t GVW fully loaded(including everything) PLUS tow a trailer (up to 750kg on B and up to 7.5t on B=E) VOSA overtook me the other day with a fully laden truck plus towing a chipper and didn't pull me over- though they may have taken pity...... There's definately some confusion on this one

It's not a dumb thread but I suggest the thought of it has upset you. It's interesting to get peoples views and I anticipate that some are venting for reasons they won't go into. Maybe the way managers are selected needs looking into- is it for the respect on the tools they engender or maybe- do they have specific people skills. Needless to say a bad manager can have a dramatic effect on any firm and ultimately jobs. How do they get in that position- are they appointed by owners to take the crap and make them (the owner) look better Do they get the job by default- no one else wanted it Do they just get too old to work efficiently on the tools and get promoted out of owners loyalty to his/her staff and is this really a bad thing What percentage of managers are respected and work staff hard creating good wages- good investment in tools All these questions are relevant IMO we need great managers or maybe some sort of responsibility taken on by staff to replace the role entirely. Forward thinking stuff

Just something I picked up from others comments and from 30 years in the trade. What is your opinion of the boss/ manager you have Do they contribute to the firms financial wellbeing or are they a drain on resources only meaning you work harder for less. Would you as a group be able to cope without their input That sort of thing I appreciate some of you won't be able to comment and please don't contribute in a licky anal way 'cos you know they are reading this.
