  1. I had exactly the same problem and solution in the eighties- my darling wife still brings this up regularly. - as in arn't men just useless
  2. Is it because we give them the leeway we would like and hope to receive from our customers- if you get my logic- I prefer my customers not to be perfectionists because, whilst perfectionists perform good work, they are a pain to work with
  3. My top tip is Don't try and do everything yourself Give others a chance to shine If they do shine-then give them more chances then more money then your job- then move on:biggrin:
  4. All day on one charge- thats fantastic Cable from backpack to top handle a bit of a pain use with telescopic- that looked brilliant- keeps the saw combo nice and light and no fumes in your face Power- a bit of an issue and that was with probably a new chain Sparks? well that depends on whether some git has driven a nail into the tree or not. Noise? thats a big plus Eco- well that depends on whether the battery can be recycled and whether you use 'green' energy to charge it up
  5. I'm gonna try to keep quiet on this because sometimes theres only one hand signal for a climber:lol:
  6. woodchip is all the arisings stuffed through the chipper barkchip is stripped bark only though you get percentages of wood in it depending on quality- it lasts much longer mulch is potentially all three and could be wool/sand/shingle/compost in fact anything that acts as a weed supressant or moisture retainer
  7. Having spent a bit of time on the phone I can confirm Roundup is here for at least another 7 years(whew) Maybe I misunderstood or maybe he did. Agree with you- why ban something so enviro friendly. So don't worry- my bad
  8. When up at Kew last week Tony Kirkham head honcho was telling us Roundup was being removed from our chemical armoury from this november unless you use ULV applicator Has anyone on here heard similar. I haven't been able to find anything out from Google yet
  9. Never snapped quite often just come off
  10. Has a decision been made on this one From a distance the tree looks well balanced though unsymmetrical Will it stay or will it go?
  11. Makes you realise how much costly training is required to cover all bases
  12. I wonder how the owner knew the tree was hollow and ripe for 'dog kennelling'
  13. Just cut it back 6ins below existing pollard sorted
  14. don't know why everyone is so worried about birch Just top it at about 10ft and go back every 3-5 years to repollard Great broom material or xmas decorations- sprayed with paint Get imaginated:thumbup1:
  15. Don't even bother leave it to a neighbour with a saw
  16. I enjoyed the seminar immensley Paul blew me away- the power of mushrooms- phenomenal Alan- well - the mad professor who will not do as he's told- the guy is very insightful or our (human) interaction with the world. But I do agree the powerpoint presentation was a struggle as I found myself reading along with him rather than listening and understanding. But I suppose that's the way it works for him. A session with someone tweeking his presenting skills could make his talk an event not to be missed. And I mean for any discipline not just us lot. Still it was good to meet you guys there- I didn't feel so lonely and also had a chance to talk to a number of other delegates one of whom has put me on a road to 'the next level'- so cheers go especially to Hamma and Xerses( all the way from Sweden- I now know why you do it!
  17. He's obviously pulled it too tight before ratcheting I hate the damn things with a vengence more frustrating than something really frustrating
  18. Now sorted- I think they prefer paypal payment but we managed to find a route round it. Looking forward to seeing you all there I'm not expecting too much but guess it will be pretty motivational A step on the ladder of understanding trees. Driving around Kent will never be as safe again
