  1. Who would give you a letter stating you were safe and competent? Answer- a training provider I have to say simples.....
  2. I hope they've changed the way the struts lock in position- it used to be a bit nervy. I'm toying with the tripod ladder design steps
  3. This is it really RAC have refused to recover as they say we're commercial vehicles which I suppose is fair enough though they always came out in the past to help us out when things went wrong. I need a recovery company who will deal with us as a business.
  4. Does anyone on here use recovery services and if so what are your experiences of them
  5. I like this idea The usual problem is getting the word out there I tried selling big bags of fertiliser etc at knock down prices but the costs of advertising the service far outweighed the profit. Must think of something else or a cheaper way of getting known.
  6. sure but everyone scavenges I mean surely everyone here has taken stuff from a skip or maybe dead wood from a copse etc- mostly no harm done- seems to make sense to me It's the gits who nick stuff obviously piled up for sale that give scavenging a bad name. When I was younger we had a small 'orchard' about 20 trees- there really was too much fruit for us and we were more than happy for scrumping to take place. Perhaps though asking the owner is the best way forward on this.
  7. Just to get some balance on here Some people are absolutely fantastic and will work with you to resolve the problem. I met one the other day. It often pays to have a face to face meeting and that saves all that e mail/letter writing crap which only escallates as each party becomes increasingly entrenched in their position. Can a compromise not be reached?
  8. I have never had anyone ask for money off once the work is underway/finished. Very few ask discount for cash but that is at the time the job is negotiated. Mind you 90% of our work is contract so maybe I'm out of touch.
  9. You quickly get to know the timewasters Part of the learning curve
  10. Have you got pre pictures of the wall If so do they indicate dangerous/unstable If so- what measures did you put in place to protect the wall The owner may be trying it on but if the wall had fallen in a storm then he could probably have claimed on his property insurance So now he claims on you- life don't always work out cool Take note and move on- you're lucky the wall didn't fall on your groundie- then you'd have risk assessment stuff/ H&S possibly Think yourself lucky Isn't it great when you turn a negative into a positive My job today- sorting out an neighbours private shed supply electric cable we cut that was hanging in a tree we worked on. I wonder what the legal side of that is!
  11. By we I Me we Didn't involve insurance Fortunately got cAT ticket a few years back There were quite a few cable company guys on the course It's scary whats down there that you can't trace- pot ends were untraceable - this may now be possible with the new stuff now out there- I don't know Ignorance is scary
  12. I'd appreciate that. When we go through cables, we pay but it's never happened where we have asked the customer- usually they haven't a clue(on purpose!)
  13. we occasionally use one if we suspect something Plug Genny into house mains and search for signal. Doesn't help with gas or plastic water though. I can only believe that almost everyone goes through a cable at some time= scary- we've yet to do it- well stumpgrinding that is. Been through a couple with other machines.
  14. Is this customers 'duty of care' A tricky one for sure
  15. Out of interest - did your customer pay this??
  16. Did a bit of mystery shopping at your place today Mr Jones and I will say how attentive and helpful everyone there was. Even though the place looks a bit small you seemed to have a good stock level. In future I will order over the web though as parking was a panic. It's a good service you provide at a good price- every retailers dream.
  17. Roo bus cock bury anus now it's phonetic ish I bet it won't get past the mods
  18. I know its not a tree but our favourite is Rubus Cockburianus It's that toilet humour again
  19. Toilet humour Fungus- the same the world over HeHe:thumbup1:
  20. Must be me- remember our TV friend =tree honey fungus=kill your lawn love Has everyone had a sense of humour bypass today Is that a knock at the door- It's the men in white coats aaargh Make mental note to write joke more often
  21. If you read my posts you'll see I am in favour of using latin names. The above post was my attempt at humour as you have so completely blasted us with scientific names and chemicals that I assume have few if any common ones. Now you're going to give me the common ones - I can see it coming:001_tt2:
