  1. worst thing about these splitters is that you have to have both hands clear. Also they don't split the last 2 inches which if there is a knot there is a pain. Theres ways round this though it then wouldn't be h&S friendly I assume
  2. Are you sure that second one is not Cornus kousa chinensis Ask the customer if they've seen flowers/fruit
  3. I assume it means that the courts have to go through the procedure of the case just to prove no neglect. Be warned though- this may uncover any unsafe practices. A warning maybe to all you out there doing tree reports.
  4. If it's dull you may not see significant effect for a week and will be obvious to anyone in two. We have had customers phone up saying we had just been spraying water. They look a bit silly when they see the effects later on- now we double emphasise that they may need to wait a while but thats the benefit of a non hazardous substance. Apply at 100ml per 5Litres is plenty for most weeds- overdosing for the sake of it is not clever. Roundup is being found in water supplies and obviously we don't want it withdrawn!!
  5. Ah Female athlete very soft pron I'll definately be watching the olympics next year then
  6. this one from alhambra palace in spain seems like the tree is on its way to eating the wall
  7. These arn't chainsaw proof are they?
  8. You're tapping into a wealth of experience with your post on here. Maybe FOCUS is important- set yourself targets- say to yourself 'I'm happy to sub to get started but want to have say a truck after 1 year' Then after the year is up check whether you are still happy to go on. If so, set yourself a year 2 target and so on. Also set a long term target- say 2 employees and premises in 5 years. This constant reassessment and reevaluating though it may seem anal is good practice and stops you drifting. Otherwise just drift but most important- stay happy. It's not the end of the world if you change tack. It's just a different goal. Remember- most people will tell you their way is the right way- well I have to admit I made early mistakes based around not getting 'professional' gear from the start- It made life hard with constant breakdowns and slow progress. Don't make that mistake. It helps to have good friends/good health/ luck/ a good sales technique/ few enemies/ patience/ loads of energy/ supportive family/ and probably most important- this is unlikely to happen overnight so you've got to have an attitude that can cope with that. Then again- what do I know:confused1:
  9. My preference is to chip laurel The smoke from burning is something else- not pleasant
  10. That poem should be burnt
  11. You can build from almost nothing but it takes ages Better to get a loan and get some quality gear with which to work
  12. I love the days when the phone don't ring and everything is going smoothly meeting up with the lads and it's all smiley faces when they are seeing that The health and safety man has been tortured cruely terrible poetry I know but I couldn't resist it
  13. in 10 years i've never claimed on nfu can't wait to have a claim........... not
  14. a needle in a haystack
  15. seriously mental can that be legal:confused1:
  16. To train up costs serious money To have to refresh costs more They are going to kill training if they continue to charge at the level they do. Some company should see an oportunity in refreshing efficiently. Say- a days course to cover a number of tickets. How many on here are fed up with training courses that give up 90% of their time to largely unnecessary information that is forgotten 2 days later. We've all heard it- 'Let's crack on and we can be gone early'. Just make training relevant and not pad it out with rubbish. 12 people in a room being charged up to £180 EACH. If only more bosses went on these courses and realised how they were being ripped off. So come on trainers- stop taking the proverbial- or you'll ruin your industry Let's have some value training. Then we won't resent it.
  17. Well done Hamma I think you've made a very good case:thumbup1:
  18. This is so relevant As an employer I understand the need for training but come on trainers- give us a chance- Too many courses where it's easy to work out that the training company is getting too much money for the service they provide. Make it a more sensible price and we will all applaud the idea.
  19. Who would give you a letter stating you were safe and competent? Answer- a training provider I have to say simples.....
  20. I hope they've changed the way the struts lock in position- it used to be a bit nervy. I'm toying with the tripod ladder design steps
  21. Thanks- thats a good idea
  22. This is it really RAC have refused to recover as they say we're commercial vehicles which I suppose is fair enough though they always came out in the past to help us out when things went wrong. I need a recovery company who will deal with us as a business.
  23. Does anyone on here use recovery services and if so what are your experiences of them
  24. I like this idea The usual problem is getting the word out there I tried selling big bags of fertiliser etc at knock down prices but the costs of advertising the service far outweighed the profit. Must think of something else or a cheaper way of getting known.
