  7. why do you think he put red diesel round the tree- I would suspect if he did that then it was him trying to kill the tree- can you smell diesel or if you pour water round the tree is it repelled by the oil? Strikes me someone doesn't want this tree here

  10. It's a natural balance thing If you remove nutrients then duckweed struggles as if you remove light How about either netting off occasionally to remove nutrien ts or make some artificial lilly leaves See how it goes Trouble with glyphos i think is that you will get dead duckweed fall down to the bottom whick will decompose- take out oxygen and provide nutrient- this is my considered opinion- personally I quite like duckweed though not over the whole pond
  11. This is a great thread We all get blase /lazy and it's good to hear everyones experiences/worries on here. You 'get away' with it once and you think you always will- bad practice. I for one will be doubly vigilant when it comes to ANY overheads now. Thanks to those who preach caution. Do we really need more excitement in our job!!

  16. ahh Now I know:thumbup1: Seriously though someone needs to delete this thread- surely it's giving the wrong sort of info out there
  17. Brilliant I couldn't agree more I have more than 5 employees and we are still trying to get our heads round RA The paperwork trail we are told is a legal necessity BUT is it Is it not just a method of establishing that you have considered risk. Is there not another way to prove the risks have been considered. This paperwork trail is just tedious and in my opinion just leads to glazed looks. Notwithstanding how much we all love filling in more forms during the job with wet hands etc as the job develops.
  18. I stand by my opinion of sign writing on your truck Not to say they are right in what they appear to be doing but it's the sign writing that may have put them in that frame of mind. Stand up to them though - it appears they are trying to bully you
  19. I also thought this- you need to have magnetic signs to cover when doing arb work- In fact it screams at you' these guys are making money out of my tree'
  20. On reflection being over the garage/wall/house £1800+vat
  21. looks like they've worked out theres 6-8 tonnes of wood there Priced it as £800 of firewood- can't see why they have to pay you on top of this Muppetts mupitts muppitts- however.... I would price that job at £1200+VAT
