  1. Not a problem this year as I have plenty of dry wood Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  2. I burnt a lot of unseasoned wood last year, it's all I had, could not believe the amount of soot when the chimney was swept. But it kept us warm. Burn what you have, and start putting wood aside for next year now Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. Yeah that's quite good really Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. Looks like I can't even get the picture straight let alone the tree! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. Just seen the picture of the chestnut reduction Steve put on the today's job thread, it's fantastic- but seems to me everybody puts pics of there best one up and maybe not the ones that didn't turn out so great. I wasn't going to post this on the today's job thread but this is the last one I did that I had a picture of. Did it last week. Let's see the last ones you all took a pic of even though you may not be too happy with them. And maybe we can offer each other some constructive criticism (or take the mickey) No cheating now, the last one. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. I can never get mine to look like that. The growth points always seem to be in the wrong place Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  7. I can't burn mine fast enough. Only air dried but I don't sell it and don't have much storage so need to keep burning it. Stove flat out 2 baskets a night Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. This. Tried others, but always prefer my ally bashlins. Just swapped to Velcro leg straps after snapping an old leather one. Much more comfy now Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. Er, lumberjills. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

£500 Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. Wheel clamp and hitch lock on mine. Also going to install a big steel ring in the floor to chain the axle to. You just need to slow them down as much as possible to give you a chance to catch em Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. I run an 18 inch bar on my echo 501 screen also. Lovely and light for bigger timber when climbing. I bet it would fly on a 13inch bar tho. Only down side is the air filter needs cleaning VERY regularly. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. I had £900 took out my wages one month. Road accident, damage to trailer while unloading grinder, and one other thing I can't remember, rushing to get jobs done whilst trying to babysit the most annoying little b*****d I've ever had to work with. He didn't last long after that. I just sucked it up and stopped caring how much I got done in a day. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. Seems about right. I just fixed our tumble drier. (Put the drive belt back on. First time I fixed it took me 2 hours, 1 electric shock and cut finger and it got a kick. This time being reasonably competent I did it in about 15 minutes with no injuries ( or swearing) does this mean next time I do it I'll be an expert therefore it will probably try to kill me? 15. Best one I ever witnessed was when a lad on site caught an adder and put it in his lunch box. Later that day the contract manager came out to see us and was offered a sandwich, as he took the lid off he saw it and snake and box went flying! We all had a good chuckle at that. He took it well after though Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  17. Found these tiny ones on a beech today. Could they be porcelain fungi? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. I thought the reason may be to keep the engine cooler. I saw one for sale on eBay a few months back which had a bonnet made of checker plate, it looked quite smart. Might put one on my old entec Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. Few broken bones there for sure Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. Yes I have. Worked for myself from 2004 -2008. Mostly planting and hedge laying in the winter and spraying in the summer and a bit of tree work year round. I finished up due to lack of work therefore not enough money, and spending all the money I did earn in the pub. Moved from Devon to Hampshire and worked for someone else. It was better, more climbing, more money once I made team leader and no stress. Then I met a girl and had kids. Needed more money and more flexibility. So started up by myself about 18 months ago. I do about half and half sub contract climbing and half for private customers. Three main things I learnt from the first time round. 1 I advertised 2 I now charge decent rates. 3 I bought a chipper But the best advise I can offer is don't get a missus and kids Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  22. Not specifically for the anvil bolts. The service manual for the tw 125 is available online and gives torque settings for the some of the different size bolts on that machine. Gives torque for the bottom anvil bolts. But not for the side anvil, so I just tightened these by eye so to speak Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. Ah no. Didn't try heating them. I was going to borrow an impact gun, that would probably have helped Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. Sips are good, only had mine a couple months now but no rips yet and they are super light and comfy Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. Customer brought out tea and hob nobs and showed me a video he had filmed of a pine marten chasing a hare across his lawn. Oh and we cut some trees down for him aswell Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
