  4. Thanks for all the replies, this will save me from filling in the form and allow me to get on with the rest of the mountain of paperwork that I have. Cheers! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. Hi, Yesterday I submitted a notification of works to a tree in a conservation area. It was just an email letter but it contained all of the info it should have. I have given several notifications of this type to one council before and they have been accepted straight away, but the tree officer for this council thanked me for my contact and attached a top form for me to notify them. Do I need to fill in the form or is my original email adequate and can I just wait the six weeks and get on with it? Thanks Will Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. Both of ours had reflux and a dairy allergy, Karl is right, doctors are tight, if gaviscon doesn't work push for omeprazol, you can get it in liquid form but it is expensive so doctors dont like to prescribe it. I hope for your little ones sake it isn't. I coped on that amount of sleep for about 4 years, it's tough but just hang in there. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  8. If you use safe working practices and the correct ppe that should reduce the risks to a minimum. Maybe get a chainsaw protective jacket if you are worried about slipping. I think adding that to a chainsaw would make it too cumbersome and awkward to use. If chainsaws ever come with that as standard I would have it straight off with the grinder Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. I don't see what the problem is here. Why does a woman think she is so hard done by when she can go out and party on her own while we go out and work. I would be over the moon if I got to go to a wedding on my own and my mrs had to go out stump grinding. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. I always keep a can of wasp nest killer in the truck. Kill the nest and carry on Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. I would just cut it all off at 4 foot high with a chainsaw. Plenty of hedges have been done like this and no one will know the difference after 1 years growth. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. This one I think is ganoderma resinaceum Then ganoderma applanatum on an oak next to the first and a newly forming bracket next to it Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. I just started running again. I used to train 5or 6 days a week about 6 years ago and run races between 3000m and half marathons, this was to much and it affected my work. I gave up after my girlfriend got pregnant and I haven't run since. I've been feeling pretty unfit of late so I have decided to start again. I'm going to try to keep it to 3 or 4 runs a week and maybe a few races, we'll se how it goes Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. Looks a bit wet there, where is it? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. Ah I had one of those for a bit, fun saw to use, noisy heavy but plenty of power, put up some pictures if you can Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. Bit late now, cause I guess it's already rebuilt but I have read a few threads from America on rebuilds where the crankcase has been split, shot blasted and powder coated. Saws looked amazing. Tho won't make them run any better
  17. Think mine lasted a bit longer than that. I asked the dealer when I bought it had they sorted the problem, said yes, would've bought the Oregon one else

  19. Hi all, Is there anyone in the whitstable/ Canterbury area who would like to give my cousin a quote for some tree work? She says she has had one quote and asked me if it was reasonable but I have never been to her house or seen the trees so advised her to get some more quotes. Not looking for the cheapest quote but it would be nice to know she wasn't overcharged by some one who is goo at what they do. Oh, and I would do it but live 3 hours away in Wiltshire and don't fancy the drive in my transit. Thanks will
  20. I had a lady working for me today. Was siding up a big Pop over a road in preparation to fell it tomorrow. I needed an extra person as was working on a road. It work really well as she spotted cars early, let us in the picker know quickly ( could whistle louder than most blokes) dragged branches to the chipper left my Groundy to concentrate on feeding the chipper and cutting out the cord. Better than any college leaver I've come across. And she helped drag the logs we had thrown in the hedge. Well impressed. Only down side was my mrs wasn't happy. I said to her fine I won't have her work for me but you'll have to do it. She soon shut up!

  22. Yep good saw I bought my 501 at the arb show. Used it quite a bit over the last few weeks. I'm running the 18 inch bar it came with, great for chogging down medium size stems. Great power for the weight, not quite as nippy as the husky 550 but a lot better in bigger wood. 2 slight bad points, the air filter lets fine dust into it, can't see any holes and it doesn't fit poorly. And the rear handle seems a bit weak, it came apart slightly when I had it on a strop when climbing. I've now wrapped a load of insulating tape around the handle to keep it together. And yes, the exhaust does get pretty hot, have you taken the spark arrestor out? Does it have a cat? If so it'll be coming out in the future
  23. Hi, Need to change the hydraulic oil and filter on my bearcat chipper. Does anyone know what filter I need or where to get it? Which oil do I need to use? Where is the drain plug? And any other tips for changing it. Thanks will Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. My prabos boots cost me £100 over 12 months ago, still going strong. Lasting better than my previous airstreams
  25. So, someone is able to do a crap job and still get paid just because they did something? Painter and decorator? Grass cutter? Handyman? It's not really about whether you have a ticket to say you can do it is it? A bad job is a bad job. This isn't just a little bit rough, it needs doing again. Why should the customer pay twice. And I'm all for letting the original contractor have a chance to put it right but the customer isn't. Isn't there some sort of scheme landscapers or fencing contractors can join BALI? Surely with this they have to meet some sort of standard? Thanks Will
