  1. Just read through the whole thread again and picked up on a couple of points. If you're not on the saw much or doing much physical work, do you need more exercise? It's important to exercise as it physically tires you out and can help relive stress. When I was at college I didn't sleep very well cos I was sat in a classroom all day and couldn't sleep at night. I realise this isn't your exact problem but if I don't do any physical work then I struggle to sleep which then makes me more tired. You may not think you have time to run walk or swim but just try it a couple evenings a week. I think this could really help. The other thing is what Robbierasta said in the last comment. Try a super high dose of vitamin c tablets, they can help you feel better and then there is iron deficiency, which my other half suffers from, vitamin b tablets, maybe? Good luck with it, but I really recommend the exercise. If you are close to the sea swimming in the sea is really good for you, I used to love it when I lived in Devon but can't now as I live in Wiltshire Cheers will
  2. You need to read the positive thinking thread I think
  3. The lad who works for me sometimes is doing his 38 with them in a couple of weeks time. Look out for him he's called Steve and has a big bushy beard
  4. If I'm not wearing chainsaw boots then I'm wearing my dealer boots comfy and cool
  5. Turned out it didn't run out of fuel. I didn't notice it cut out, the groundie did. He thought it was out of petrol so filled it up, wouldn't start. I checked the stop button on the cage- fine, still wouldn't start after five mins he found the emergency stop button on the base which I had dropped a branch on. Got going again. It has a hand pump to get you down in an emergency but I've never had to use it. Cup of tea? At a place like that? No chance, I'd sooner work at a smaller place with a friendlier owner!
  6. Think it has been said before on a different thread but I have found whether you rig stuff down or not depends on the ground crew or company you work for. I climb for a couple of different tree surgeons and the foreman of one tries to avoid me rigging. If I suggest rigging or zip lining to save the lawn or make it easier for the groundies he rolls his eyes and just says 'smash it down'. I'm getting a bit more of my own work now and I'm teaching the lad who works for me to lower. He is picking it up real quick and enjoys doing it and we are getting more efficient at it so doing it more often
  7. I used to use a saw like this on my granddads farm. It was a two man job. The oiler didn't work. So I would cut and he would squirt the oil on with a fairy liquid bottle. I bet my uncle still has it somewhere, I'd love to dig it out and see if it still rums
  8. Milled some larch 4 inches wide and built this wall to tidy up the bottom of a bank in our garden
  9. Had my saw back a week now after spud fixed it for me. It's running great thanks spud. Clogged down a big ash with it today, but it was hard work without the dogs, so I dug them out and fitted them on
  10. Beech removal, dead wood and reduce 3 lowest branches on one oak and an oak reduction Rarely do I feel sad about felling a tree but this beech had been growing in the shelter of the large oak and seemed quite happy there.
  11. Based in Marlborough, wilts. I am looking for more work for my myself and my chipper. I have all my climbing tickets and my groundy has his cs 30/31. I am happy to do the whole job or just come and drag and chip. I have all my own saws and rigging gear. Call me on 07917725646 or PM me. Thanks will

  16. Cheers, yours looks a bit more fancy than mine, you do a lot of fencing? I'd quite like to do a bit more, It was a nice break from tree work and when I get a bit faster it'll be a good earner too
  17. I really want one now, especially when wielding the 200t around on reductions. But I want to wait until I can get the smaller sugi bar on it instead of the stihl
  18. Not sure of the reason, but we seemed to do a lot of unnecessary work to trees on this site, lots of crown thins, nearly every tree on the site had work on it.. Thanks for your reply, I will think about it more before I cut any now
  19. Probably more than me and you in a week!
  20. I work on an mod contract and some of the work was to cut the girdling roots of any trees that had them. Is this a good idea or not?
  21. Most of my work is tree work, but I've been asked to quote for a few fences recently. I haven't put up any close board for a while but I did a lot when working for a my old employer about 5 years ago. Here's one we put up yesterday. Pics underneath
  22. Couple small larch dismantles this afternoon. Could have got away without rigging it but I thought I would save the lawn and practise some rigging with Steve my groundie. He hasn't done much before but after showing him how to set up the portawrap and explaining the the basics, he picked it up straight away.
  23. Argh. Hate that job! Looks nice when it is done tho
