  1. Think it has been said before on a different thread but I have found whether you rig stuff down or not depends on the ground crew or company you work for. I climb for a couple of different tree surgeons and the foreman of one tries to avoid me rigging. If I suggest rigging or zip lining to save the lawn or make it easier for the groundies he rolls his eyes and just says 'smash it down'. I'm getting a bit more of my own work now and I'm teaching the lad who works for me to lower. He is picking it up real quick and enjoys doing it and we are getting more efficient at it so doing it more often
  2. I used to use a saw like this on my granddads farm. It was a two man job. The oiler didn't work. So I would cut and he would squirt the oil on with a fairy liquid bottle. I bet my uncle still has it somewhere, I'd love to dig it out and see if it still rums
  3. Milled some larch 4 inches wide and built this wall to tidy up the bottom of a bank in our garden
  4. Had my saw back a week now after spud fixed it for me. It's running great thanks spud. Clogged down a big ash with it today, but it was hard work without the dogs, so I dug them out and fitted them on
  5. Beech removal, dead wood and reduce 3 lowest branches on one oak and an oak reduction Rarely do I feel sad about felling a tree but this beech had been growing in the shelter of the large oak and seemed quite happy there.
  6. Based in Marlborough, wilts. I am looking for more work for my myself and my chipper. I have all my climbing tickets and my groundy has his cs 30/31. I am happy to do the whole job or just come and drag and chip. I have all my own saws and rigging gear. Call me on 07917725646 or PM me. Thanks will
  7. My puppy p$$$$d on my truck seat so if I pour milk on it that'll Get rid of the smell them?

  9. Ah your not sposed to drink It!
  10. I want those chainsaw pants for the summer. Do honey brothers sell them?
  11. Cheers, yours looks a bit more fancy than mine, you do a lot of fencing? I'd quite like to do a bit more, It was a nice break from tree work and when I get a bit faster it'll be a good earner too
  12. I really want one now, especially when wielding the 200t around on reductions. But I want to wait until I can get the smaller sugi bar on it instead of the stihl
  13. Not sure of the reason, but we seemed to do a lot of unnecessary work to trees on this site, lots of crown thins, nearly every tree on the site had work on it.. Thanks for your reply, I will think about it more before I cut any now
  14. Probably more than me and you in a week!
  15. I work on an mod contract and some of the work was to cut the girdling roots of any trees that had them. Is this a good idea or not?
  16. Most of my work is tree work, but I've been asked to quote for a few fences recently. I haven't put up any close board for a while but I did a lot when working for a my old employer about 5 years ago. Here's one we put up yesterday. Pics underneath
  17. Couple small larch dismantles this afternoon. Could have got away without rigging it but I thought I would save the lawn and practise some rigging with Steve my groundie. He hasn't done much before but after showing him how to set up the portawrap and explaining the the basics, he picked it up straight away.
  18. Argh. Hate that job! Looks nice when it is done tho
  19. It'll be the name on the top of the invoice, that is if they gave her an invoice
  20. Try the FCA forestry contracting association. IMO means in my opinion
  21. How did you get on with your new tyres? Thinking about getting some grippier ones for my transit
  22. Great, thanks spud. I only think it's fair to send stuff to be mended if it's clean.
  23. We had this problem where I used to work, lads would just throw any old rubbish in the back. Pushing up the chip pile with the telehandler was a pain cos you had to keep jumping out to pick out cans, bottles, rubbish, rakes, logs, road signs etc. used to drive my old boss crazy. I don't have that problem anymore as I work for myself.
