No it's the original piston. I've never taken this saw to bits, I have never even been near it with a tuning screwdriver! Just looked at the opposite circlip and its the same

Can you turn a special into a 372, or just the newer x torque?

Needs a new chainbrake mechanism, a starter pawl, new plug cap and lead, the list goes on

Oh dear, that means splinting the crank case? Not sure if the saw is worth that. Needs a lot of other parts too

Well my trusty 372 died today. It suddenly just died and on trying to restart it found it had lost considerable compression. Took off the muff, no scoring, plug colour looks like it's been running rich so took the pot off and the piston ring seems stuck in and these marks on the side of the piston Maybe something got in there? Air filter not in the best shape So can I just smooth the rough edges off and fit a new ring? I was planning to send it to spud after I get my jonsered back but I could do with it next week

I rarely check my petzl helmet, though the other day my chinstrap clip broke, but I can still use the ear defenders to keep it on my head

Is that the tree reacting to the fungi? -
I might be mad but I enjoy climbing dead trees. If you can climb it and just cut small pieces free fall onto the lawn then it won't shock the tree too much, your weight isn't going to make much difference up in the tree. But each dead tree is different and you have to make your own judgement.

Out on a walk today with the kids and spotted this, I think it might be a ganoderma, funny thing was a lot of tree work had taken place along this part of the avenue including an oak of a similar size had been felled next to it, but no one seemed to have noticed this ash with the fungi and large crack running up to a massive first branch. Or maybe they did and its planned to have work done to it

Sharpen your axe so it sticks in, then lift axe and log attached above your head spin it round on the down ward stroke so the axe hits hits the block upside down and hey presto! The logs own weight splits itself
