    New wood shed

Looks a good shed already, out of interest what is your cost for timber and the roofing?
  2. Always on the hunt for logs, got 2 different sites where they can be delivered to, or can collect, will pay. Can probably also find a home for woodchip! Get in contact.....
  3. What about extending the length of the ramp so there're less of a hill to pull the sack barrow up
  4. Thank you very much for your help Have found a damaged o ring which I'll replace
  5. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYB9K45VVkg]How to cut down a 40-foot tree (..or not) - YouTube[/ame]
  6. Hi, can anyone help? The log splitter has delveloped an oil leak from the back of the control valve. I know very little about hydraulics! It seems to be coming out round the edge of the plasticy box part held on by 4 screws, behind which is the spring. I took off the plasticy part, cleaned up all the joining edges, and put it back on nice ad tight, but it still drips. Is this part suposed to be oiltight? Would a dollop of instant gasket solve the problem? Or just hide something more internal?
  7. Dunno what that's all about [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB9Bju6tgrc]??????????? ???????? - YouTube[/ame]
  8. Cut the sides off, attach 2 lengths of rope (each about 3ft long), and they make a fantastic trug, really good for carrying about tools, screws, straps, logs, kindling, rubble etc etc
  9. Make a simple holder with 4 posts and a couple of cross pieces so you can stack the thin lengths up 10/20 at a time and chainsaw them in one go I work part time on an estate and put just about anything over 2" for firewood, the rest is burnt
  10. I find standard headband type ear defenders block out more sound than helmet mounted ones, they seem to grip closer onto your head
  11. Do solar panels not lose efficancy over time? I was looking at buying some for a shed a while back but after a lot of reading on the internet it seemed years down the line they would only produce like half of the power compared to when new
  12. I got a set of the lidl ones yesterday, they seem pretty good, very comfy and good sound quality. Only problem is I don't think they're waterproof so will have to avoid using them in the rain! There is a microphone on the outside of the muffs. Press a button and it turns off the music and plays the noise from the mic through the speakers, so you can listen to someone talk etc without taking the defenders off - seems a bit of a gimmick
  13. It doesn't seem very deep rooted, most roots only seem to be a few inches down, and it's fairly easy to spot the rhizomes in the soil
  14. I've used the unbranded orange 2.8mm/3mm square line that mister solutions sell, it seems like good stuff and lasts a long time, good price too
  15. If you want to get rid of it fast about the only option is to dig it out
  16. 2 nice blocks of firewood there
  17. Stop hitting your axes and mauls with a sledgehammer, they're not designed for that lol If you want wedges to knock in with a sledge then buy some, they're only about a fiver

  19. Spotted these while doing a regular search of ebay for anything forestry in the north, they're of no interest to me but might be useful to other members? Ponsse H60e Timber Forestry Harvester Head | eBay eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
  20. I know very little about roadbuilding but I have seen/heard of tyre bales being used in the lower courses in boggy areas to reduce the amount of stone needed - you can get the tyre bales for free

    drying wood

I'm suprised no one has come up with the idea of painting the container black?
  22. I'll fell them for free if I can keep the wood
  23. Somebody buy the boy a new torch, he won't find many tramps with a piddly wee maglight
  24. ...and his felling work could be subject to a felling licence....
  25. You'll make more money from kindling selling direct to the end user/public, make up some net bags then send the lad out chapping on doors locally Oh and you'll make more money from old pallets if you actually build items out of the wood, and it's more fun
