  1. I would say forget the B&Q shed, tell him to get one from a local sawmill/shed builder - you get what you pay for
  2. Just to bump an old thread, did anyone here get a Stiga strimmer, and how are they getting on?
  3. Looks like 12mm gravel? In which case it would make the hedge 3472mm high by the looks of it
  4. Cheers, I hope it will outlast me! The posts are old electricity poles. Started out with 4 poles at about 9m long, and cut them in half (well just over/under) to make 8 posts. All the other timber is Larch from the local sawmill - apart from 6 rogue lengths of Douglas Fir! The cladding is 2nd grade boards, 6" wide, 1" gap. The size was mainly determined by the materials - the 8 poles, 16ft lengths of timber, 2ft wide roof sheets, and the need to get the dumper with roll bar in.
  5. Finally today got this shed finished, happy days! Just need to fill it now (and fit a gutter before the end of summer)
  6. Liked this, monkey puzzle for sale at offers over £1,000 https://www.gumtree.com/p/plants-flowers/monkey-puzzle-tree/1171752761 Buyer to remove!
  7. And don't forget you can sell the foliage to florists!!
  8. https://www.gumtree.com/p/lawn-mowers/lawn-mower-for-sale/1169926403 I'll have what he's having!!
  9. It's 8mm cable, in a tirfor type winch
  10. Was bored so had a go at making a DIY a zip wire/death slide Getting a bit dark in the video, this was just before I took it down The brake was 2 car tyres which worked, although a bit brutal [ame] [/ame] :thumbup1:
  11. Does depend what size posts you're putting in and what depth, some post holers are narrow and short (roughneck), some are wider and longer (Eliza tinsley etc)
  12. Just recently got the Kaaz pro 21" 4 wheel mower, it will be similar to your roller Kubota. Fitted the mulching kit, not put much use on it yet but very happy so far
  13. Looks like it's only me that uses Oregon semi synthetic, 5l for just over 20 quid, been using it for years with no issues
  14. I cleared an area of about 100/200 square metres of very dense bamboo, up to 3m high with a brushcutter in 2011 think it was. We then had a mini digger in to get the roots out, and numerous bonfires. Regrowth was sprayed with glyphosate. Even after all that it sill occasionally pops up a few new shoots every year
  15. Nice shed Did you manage to get the bamboo roots out? It can be a pig, and can keep popping up forever !
  16. Speaker on the Aldi rugged phone packed in after a week Got a replacement one so will see how that goes. After a week of no charge, it's still showing a full battery!

And I bet all he got for it was enough to pay the fuel and maybe buy a burger before heading home?!
  18. I've not used Abbey garden sales for parts, but when buying machines off them I've had very poor service and wouldn't use them again
  19. Yes you can also buy specific windbreak netting, sold in different %'s depending on how much wind it blocks. Just needs some stakes knocked in, or you could cable tie it to existing stock fences. Debris netting is still nice and cheap though
  20. What about experimenting with debris netting tied on. It will allow some air through but keep the worst of rain out
  21. What about keeping an eye out for a knackered pressure washer/generator/etc with a Honda engine. Still a bit of a gamble. But the Honda gx engines are good!
  22. Got the aldi phone. Camera is rubbish and there's no predictive text, but apart from that seems a decent enough basic phone that should stand up to abuse!
  23. I wired up work lights, reverse lights, and interior lights on a box trailer I used to have. Just did it through a grey caravan socket.
  24. Sort of related... a passenger in a vehicle was killed in Inverness after crashing into an unlit artic trailer Chances missed to save father | Inverness Courier | Home
  25. There's one coming up in Aldi tomorrow by chance, don't know if it's any good, but I will probably be getting one! https://www.aldi.co.uk/rugged-mobile-phone/p/069930022893700
