  1. It's fairly common in the Highlands for people to buy an artic load of softwood for domestic use (24-27t or whatever). Sometimes for 1 house or sometimes it's neighbours/close family chip in together. If you can, it's worth thinking of a system to cut down on handling as much as possible. So vented bags or cages and forks to move them, or a tipper, or the conveyor straight into the shed
  2. Just wondering, is the wood for your own use, or to sell? If it's for your own use, is the plan with the barrow bags to wheel them direct into where the stove/boiler is? Are you filling them loose with a conveyor or hand stacked, what length are the logs cut to?

    WOW

If it's anything like my house, they probably got a woman to check for sawdust in the washing machine
  4. You could go back and finish the job and he still might not pay you. I know people will say you can take him to small claims court. Either way it's all hassle
  5. Douglas fir is good firewood

    Like buses

It's a trap. They'll let you get all lathered up and then the swat team will burst through the shower curtain.
  7. That looks good fun! If I bought that I wouldn't paint it, it looks the part as it is.
  8. Article from 2 years ago: Lost Forest: why is BrewDog’s green scheme causing controversy? | Trees and forests | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Firm has pledged to plant huge forest in Scotland, but some of its environmental claims have raised eyebrows
  9. The 2 guys started out making beer to be anti corporate/anti establishment, but they have now become a global corporate giant themselves. The beers of theirs I have tried, I've not been a fan of, but I know they have a huge fanbase. Years ago there was a mega offer on the "lost lager", they were giving it away, and for every pack they would apparently plant a tree. So one of those dead trees is mine! Didn't like the lager, but hey it was 'free'
  10. If you have then tractor, then yeh get a hydraulic splitter. Look up ktm machinery, they used to be really cheap, not so much now. Never used one but don't like the look of the blade on the oxdale
  11. No O licence needed, no driving licence needed, they'll be self driving.
  12. Ideal tipper conversion 1 company owner Needs a new windscreen and headlight to pass MOT. (easy fix, don't have the time to do this myself) Buyer must collect from Wester Ross https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cjje0l85p3no
  13. Yep, it's a nightmare to fill in all the paperwork when you're trolleyed. Best to just torch the vehicle and buy another scrapper in the morning.
  14. You say you want to get 10 years out of it? There will be some people on here doing a couple of thousand miles a year, and others doing 30/40/50k miles a year
  15. Just electrify the river, that'll sort them out
  16. Van insurance renewal was £372 (up from £252 previous year) Went through topcashback compare, price was £268, and £38 cashback, so £230 in total. Bit of faff, but it's one way to spend your evening.
  17. If you're billy no mates, you'll save a fortune on communication equipment. Follow me for more financial advice
  18. Think morse code would be easier
  19. I built a compost area with a tin roof, and more old tin on the sides. Split into 2 bays at first but now going to be 3 bays. Given we get plenty of rain, and you don't want the compost totally sodden, or the nutrients washed out. And even though the old tin has a few holes in it, I think it's too dry now. Maybe work better if you were constantly chucking wet/green material on it.
  20. My mate used to eat a tin of grapefruit every morning, he said it makes you shit out the fat
  21. Got an old Danarm hanging up in the shed Was given it by someone I had done some work for, when he was moving house he had me round, double garage to empty, kinda take what you want, filled the van to the neck, including a floor standing pillar drill (gave him a few quid for that) Also got some old 2-man pull saws rescued from another place. And various old hand tools. They will never get used but nice history to me. I've never even tried to fire up the Danarm, but the guy said he'd had it running.
  22. Wow that is mental. There's a road that runs past with streetview: Google Maps WWW.GOOGLE.COM Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps. Tens of thousands of cows and bare soil as far as the eye can see
  23. The ideal combination for working in your own small woodland imo would be a top of the range battery saw (husky 540ixp) and a 60-ishcc petrol saw (husky 365)
  24. I wouldn't be worried about the fuel, but more the saw in general - ie is it stolen?
