  1. Sounds like you need a decent capacity log shed. A coal store would be no good for logs.

    Jokes???

How to test the strength of a rope:

    WOW

Leyland Cypress would be good, at least you can buy that in a garden centre
  4. scbk

    WOW

I can imagine some sort of geordie del boy turning up in the nearest car park with a van load of sycamore seedlings that have been pulled out of a woodland/waste ground and rammed into pots "why aye man, come and get your official sycamores here £10 each or 2 for £20" Like a stall selling love locks next to a busy bridge
  5. scbk

    WOW

Is that a sycamore? Leaves look a bit more maple-y? Do garden centres normally have sycamores in stock?
  6. I live in the countryside, one of the cats is a fantastic mouser, seems to eat a few per day. Often gets rabbits, and had a good few rats too. Does that mean I have a high rat per person ratio, as she's managing to find them? Or a low rat per person ratio, as she has now eaten them?!

    Hoovers

That is a horrible way to describe your other half, shame on you
  8. I know some folks love them for it, but I wouldn't use a pressure washer for washing a vehicle. A garden hose with a decent pressure is fine. -Hose it down -Long reach wash brush dunked in a bucket with standard car shampoo and warm water -Rinse when you're done A mate used to say "just run a sponge over it when it's raining"

Henry's fine. Anything that henry doesn't lift, isn't worth lifting imo
  10. Google maps is optimistic, it is only marked as "temporarily closed". I assume they will reopen it fully once the tree has been stood back upright?
  11. Would be a good fund raiser for the national trust, sell off each bit of firewood at a fiver a go
  12. The lad has been charged with crimes against stump height
  13. scbk

    WOW

Maybe the person who felled it was hoping it could be blamed on storm Agnes, tree blew over innit
  14. That is sad. I hadn't heard of it before, but it looked like a beautiful tree in an amazing spot
  15. The camerawork gives you a headache after a while, but this looks a good firewood set up. Electric, under cover in a nice bright shed, cctv on the log deck, remote controlled/auctomatic
  16. The tester I've spoke to in the past said the bed has to be secured properly, so heavy corrosion to the mountings would be a fail. On the gumtree truck one of the mountings has totally disappeared, the other isn't far behind. Mine failed the mot years ago, and it was nowhere near as bad! These bodies are made by VFS/Scattolini, they're not painted, it's some sort of plastic coating, so I assume the water gets behind the coating and rusts them out. Biodegradable innit.
  17. Not much left holding the body together or even attaching it to the chassis of the truck, and it's just passed an MOT 2009 Renault Master CCML35dCi 100 Low Roof Chassis Cab CHASSIS CAB Diesel Manual | in Upton, West Yorkshire | Gumtree WWW.GUMTREE.COM A1 CAR SALES. Renault Master ccml35dci 100 chassis cab with tipper body, it has only covered 74375 miles, Power Assisted Steering, Anti Lock Brakes, In Car Entertainment... "Just put through 12 months mot"
  18. So the college requires you to use class c "all round" protection when it's not deemed necessary, but doesn't care if the rated chain speed matches the saw used? Has there been a risk assessment carried out on operators overheating in chainsaw trousers? You said the course is countryside management, how often do you use a chainsaw on it?
  19. Don't know if it's any use but I've got a load of hollow promises I could definitely drop round in the morning
  20. scbk

    How much?!!

A guy I know is getting dental work done in Poland, apparently it's half the price of here. I'm sure he said £25k, can't remember was that the local price or the Poland price
  21. Milwaukee do one aswell, atleast it has an oiler, 5m/s chain speed
  22. I use the Husky battery blower, just looked and it is the 525ib. Another advantage is storage in a vehicle, it's narrower so fits in a spot where a petrol wouldn't and because there's no fumes/fluids/leaks/hot exhaust you can store it in the cab, down the back of the seats etc so it's always to hand
