I bought a 365 x-torq just before they stopped selling them in this country so I'm not needing to buy one anyway! But if I was I would go for the grey import 372. I've never seen one of the chinese copies in real life. I wonder which would be better suited and longer lived for someone living up in the hills cutting their own firewood, an autotune or chinese copy? If they were able to buy a brand new genuine 365/372 it would last decades, without ever going near a dealership.

The flip side of that is Husqvarna designed a great saw in the 372xp, but have decided to no longer sell in in UK/Europe/US (although you can get it via a grey import) I don't want an autotune chainsaw - but I don't really want a cheap imitation either!
  4. Not used it much yet but got a 12v oil pump for about a tenner in lidl a while back. Maybe more suited to small tanks as I think it was quite slow I once used an old 240v pond pump for diesel. No idea where that went, maybe it's buried in a shed somewhere, or maybe somebody borrowed it
  5. Strimmer line is ok on new bracken growth but at this point in the year you'd want a metal blade. Me being sceptical if someone tells you a job will "only take you" x amount of time then double it lol
  6. Good to see he's still making videos! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5MfL1XmaOA
  7. Don't know what the link is. I think the cars are fine, the tools are shite. JCB put their name to a range of cheap tools etc too
  8. That was their postbox for the "big hoose"
  9. Get enough of them and you have a gang!
  10. Nice trip away up the north west to cut a load of hardwood for a couple of days
  11. Will they play a cover of his favourite song? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X53ZSxkQ3Ho
  12. In the greenhouse, the tomato/strawberry barrels - the tomato plants have smothered the strawberries more than I imagined, but they're not great tasting strawberries anyway. Loads of green tomatoes. Millions of flowers, I think a lot haven't been pollinated. With the poor weather there seems to be a real shortage of flying insects
  13. Ripe blackcurrants aswell! I don't know what the variety is, these bushes came out of my parents garden when I had to redo their soakaway in 2020. At the time I dug open, but had to wait for the quarry to reopen after the first covid lockdown. The bushes must be 30yrs+ old, they were there when I was a kid
  14. What a summer it's been. Not had any decent weather since about May, the plants have just sat there not doing anything, but finally it's turned, the clouds have receded. First courgette harvested of the year
  15. You're too cheap....
  16. If it's lights you can fix them to the tipping body too, just be sensible about the wiring
  17. Don't bother locking the trailer, just leave a few of them lying around the yard in the dark
  18. Can you not tow the existing chipper with the BCS?

    The post

Postie start times in the mornings have been put back a few hours round here, apparently Royal Mail have cancelled 2 flights so they have to wait for the lorries to come in now. (might not be a bad thing for the environment though)
  20. I borrowed a book on tree pruning from the local library, but the last 1/3 had been removed.
  21. Just put a sign above the infeed saying "please do not insert any body parts, as the clean up is time consuming for the other staff"

I don't know if the latitude thing is good or bad for solar? Long summer days, but about 6hrs of daylight in midwinter?

Could Thurso be in line for the far north’s first solar farm? WWW.JOHNOGROAT-JOURNAL.CO.UK A multinational’s bid to develop the far north’s first commercial solar farm has elicited a mixed response from Thurso Community Council. An area that already has too much renewable energy, and a company wants to come in and build a solar farm, would it not make more sense to put solar panels on new industrial buildings near the big cities. Keep the land for grazing, or plant some trees.
  24. Enough head as a man could ever desire! I know it's mad, you'll all think I'm a nutter, but I just planted some bare root fruit trees this week. They were on a special offer, 6 different fruit trees for £19.99 plus postage! I assume they're unsold from the winter, and been in a cold store. I think they would have a chance if it wasn't for the delivery taking a week.......during a heatwave! https://www.gardeningexpress.co.uk/premium-speciality-chefs-selection-for-the-fruit-connoisseur-fruit-tree-collection-pack-of-six The description is a load of soppy waffle It's a punt, I think at least 1 of them has a sign of life, a Pinova apple.
  25. Half full at 100kg it's easy to wheel about, the ground gently slopes downhill, you would struggle uphill on grass. This cart also has a 50mm tow bar attachment They're great trolleys, well made.
