    Chainsaw options

To be honest for the type of work you do a battery saw sounds ideal. If you're scratching about in the middle of a big rhododendron the last thing you want is a 2 stroke trying to gas you out!

    Winter diesel

Cos of course you don't know with the weather, could be heatwave next week and snow in may!
  3. To be fair, I think I messed up. Bought diesel end of August as I was out, obviously got summer grade, and it's waxing up when it gets to 0 deg C. Mainly notice as I always fill up with filter funnels, so you can see it not pouring. Any good additives that will help, or get another small delivery now, and the storage tank will be mixed up roughly 1/3rd summer diesel & 2/3rd winter grade diesel?
  4. Lumag is like a few other brands, made in China but with a German name
  5. (not helpful but), I think nature would prefer it if you left it alone! Others will have better advice, but yes you could thin some of the trees out to produce firewood. Maybe make an area for camping/bushcraft if you're into that sort of thing. Ideally you would want a powered machine to carry wood out, don't know what you've got already? Could be anything from a small tractor, an old mower, quad bike, power barrow, old jeep etc. Then think about clearing paths/tracks through the woods. On the rest of your land (7/8acres?) have you got any space you could plant up with fast growing trees for firewood? (...or an orchard?) There's lots of good books on the subjects of trees and woodlands, sit by the fire in the dark winter nights and go through ideas
  6. You can get a fire system with heat detectors and a remotely controlled water cannon, would be fun to rig that up to the intruder alarm
  7. So it's a chipper, that runs on tracks? I think we should call it a tracked chipper
  8. "Unlike our 3G network, we won’t be turning 2G off completely. In fact, we expect to continue operating it for several years and it will play an important role in carrying emergency calls in more remote areas without 4G coverage. We’ll also use it to support data traffic for smart energy meters" I don't know the technical details, but sounds like 2g will only be able to be used for smart meter data and emergency calls? I was told by tesco mobile/O2 you'll no longer be able to send or receive texts.
  9. I wonder how many existing trackers will, or have already, stopped working, with the switch off of 3g?
  10. Have a look at the Balfor circular saws https://www.balforuk.co.uk/shark-saw-benches
  11. What sort of volume, have you thought about a circular saw bench?
  12. Looks like the OP @Al Gordita has disappeared without telling us what bike he has!
  13. Yes it's fine with a mulching blade, needs to be the 3mm thick blade. Personally I prefer 4 stroke or battery for running a blade than 2 stroke
  14. I often use the Husky battery brush cutter with a mulching blade on stuff a lot heavier than bramble, you can even use it as a clearing saw and fell small trees
  15. You can get a glass Barr's bottle in the holder by your knee, which is the main thing.
  16. Local feed supplier always has tins of Hoggs dubbin on the counter, so that's what I use. If the boots aren't clean/dry, I would sometimes spray wd40 on them on the way out the door in the winter, I think it helped a bit with waterproofing.
  17. Op, what cargo bike you got, any pics?
  18. So how much of a discount if I turn up with a £100 note with a picture of the Kessock Bridge?
  19. Found on youtube.......

    Storm damage.

The best smoke screen I've seen is chain oil in the wrong hole (not today, as we didn't have a storm)
  21. Scots pine allergy apparently https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/12/07/norwich-scots-pine-tree-allergic-south-norfolk-council/ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1mrrzdz7kko
  22. As I understand: If it's for employees, 20% VAT If the person buying it is going to wear it, 0% VAT https://www.gov.uk/guidance/protective-equipment-and-vat-notice-70123 2.1 Protective boots and helmets that qualify for zero-rating they must not be supplied to persons for use by their employees 2.6 Zero-rated industrial helmet accessories If you fit accessories such as visors or ear protectors as an integral part of a qualifying industrial helmet, you can zero-rate the supply of the complete helmet. But accessories supplied on their own are standard-rated.
  23. If they were sold with a hard hat as being a set then the entire thing should be VAT free. Might be hard getting the supplier to understand this That's as an individual. As a business you're supposed to pay the vat then claim it back - same for boots etc.
  24. You can tell you're in the south of England, most Transits of that era up here would've rusted away before covid!
