  1. Yes and not many about 2nd hand either They're a hardy machine, but most of them look pretty shagged, spent most of there life on hire, and been rolled over a few times no doubt!
  2. An extra slice on the hydraulic valve block It has a dual pump with a solenoid in the valve block to combine the two feeds for high speed. Yes I'm going to make a fixed 700mm wide table, and then 40mm box sliding into 50mm box for the extensions I think
  3. Yes a conveyor would be nice if I had the space! I've got a folding ramp permanently fitted to the van, so I can just drive the machine straight in and out I've been thinking for a long time how to improve my setup, none of the ready made splitters meet my needs of fast, powerful, very mobile, robust, and narrow access. I was looking for weeks/months on ebay etc to find the right track dumper, most in this size have a smaller engine. Very nearly bought a 1ton machine but (now thankfully!) that deal fell through. 500 mile trip to get this TCP dumper. As new they did have a PTO option. Took ages to get it all figured out and then was let down numerous times, and waiting on parts. Local hydraulics shop are very knowledgeable but also very busy and terrible at returning calls. Needed to get a cylinder repaired, various hoses made up, and the main part was an extra slice for the valve block which in the end I had to speak to the technical manager of the component manufacturer to get! Relocated the battery, and fitted a much bigger one. And fitted a hydraulic oil cooler. Quite a hard machine to work on as it's so tight for space I had it in my head it would take a week - 3 months later and it's usable but not finished Need to put a few days use on it to find the next set of faults
  4. This project has been rumbling on for a few months, almost there now! It has a 9.5hp Kubota diesel Still need to make a bigger table, and tidy it all up. Also got a small electric hoist I want to try out. [ame] [/ame]
  5. As suggested by someone on here years ago, cut 3 sides off a combi spanner with an angle grinder, and that fits in the mechanism. Handy tool to have when it comes to replacing a brake band Not my video, but this is the idea: [ame] [/ame]
  6. First person to light a bonfire in the rain wins.........
  7. You know you're onto a winner when out come the tunnocks caramel wafers :biggrin:
  8. The Husqvarna 580 is a good blower, had one for over a year now
  9. WD40? Give it a good coating and leave to soak in
  10. I would say if you want to work under it don't get anything too bright or you will be dazzled and have bad shadows, and possibly a headache. You really want lights as high as possible, pointing down. Maybe mount a long pole on the firewood processor, and wiring via an Anderson plug or similar
  11. That celtic cross is a good one. There's a big knob next to the M74 - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.4581116,-3.6454048,3a,18.7y,3.66h,90.74t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sQgfoffs3E-eSmhMsjlbubQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en And a zigzag next to the A9 at Moy, I think the story is it was the guy's initials, a W or M, possibly part of it missing now though? https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@57.383517,-4.0182916,1530m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en And a symbol in the heather in Aberdeenshire - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/57%C2%B010'31.1%22N+2%C2%B052'48.1%22W/@57.1857272,-2.8839739,1578a,20y,168.75h,37.06t/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d57.1753083!4d-2.8800194?hl=en
  12. Got an infrared thermometer, ran the machine for approx. 30 mins and got a reading of 66*C on most of the auxiliary pipe fittings - don't know if it would have got hotter than that. That was with an air temp of about 5*C so on a summers day it would be warmer still.
  13. Here's a very rustic one I built in the woods, last year I think it was. Even has a backrest/drink holder! All the wood is from trees within about 50yds max of where the bench now is.
  14. :laugh1: [ame] [/ame]
  15. The solid puncture proof trolley tyres are good but unfortunately they still use the same crappy bearings/wheel centres etc which will eventually fall apart
  16. At 1500 euros, how does that compare to a "proper" kindling machine? Although not much use commercially, the machine in the vid looks like it would be useful on an estate with sawmill and/or ready supply of off cuts, and where a lot of kindling is used in the 'big house' and cottages etc. Good use of a rainy day! If it had a larger infeed tray it would probably be more productive, and you could ditch the daft wee poker!
  17. Why use them? I'm sure there would be a local windscreen fitter who would offer much better service
  18. There's some info on it on the paving expert site, for a proper job it's quite a bit of work Paving Expert - AJ McCormack and Son - Reinforced Grass Paving If it's not going to be used heavily, I would maybe try the thin mesh that you can roll out onto the grass.
  19. Spotted one on ebay that would just fit, not got a fan but that could be added, just the radiator on it's own would help though surely? Black Universal Aluminium 13 Row Oil Cooler 250mm x 175mm x 32mm AN-10 Thread | eBay
  20. Saw this on local gumtree, Husqvarna 346xp for £600, christ! https://www.gumtree.com/p/power-saws/husqvarna-346xp-professional-petrol-chain-saw/1193534293
  21. Thanks, is an infrared thermometer the best thing for the job? Should've bought one when I saw them in Lidl a while back!!!
  22. Yes I had been looking and wondering if an engine oil cooler would do, there's some lovely cheap ones on ebay, but they all seem to be too long to fit I don't know how hot is too hot, I've adapted the machine to run a log splitter, and after about half an hour of use the flat face quick release couplings were too hot to hold! I don't want to boil the system!
  23. Thanks, it's ok the machine has electrics so 12v fan would work
  24. Hi, I'm looking for any suggestions for a small hydraulic oil cooler, new or used. I've got a hydraulic track barrow that I'm running an extra service off, but feel it needs an oil cooler. Later models of the machine are fitted with a small hydraulic oil cooler (with fan) by moving the battery to a new location, which seems the best place for it. The space for it to fit in is a max of 280mm tall and 210mm wide. So I'm wondering if there's any machines like mini/micro diggers, chippers etc that I might get 2nd hand parts for, with a similar sized radiator and fan?
  25. [ame] [/ame] Nice old bits of machinery in this video, never seen a log splitter like that before. Hope everyone went home with all their fingers and toes!
