How much to deliver to the highlands

What kinda size of wood do you use to make the kindling from? How much do the empty bags cost? Do you know if they're UV stable? ie could you season wood in them?

Surely there must be different degrees of kiln dried? A big company like certanly wood probably just bung it in the kiln for long enough to get the worst of the moisture out and take it down to below 25%. More like speedy seasoning than kiln drying *maybe*

I think the 5% would only apply to home heating, so if it was a pub etc buying it to burn themselves it should be 20%

Thanks for the info everyone The tree was felled because it was right next to a main road. Last year (before I started there), a few hundred yards further down, another beech came down accross the road. Luckily the only damage was to the stone wall A fair chunk of that tree still remains, I've made a start on cutting it up for firewood. I assume they cut most of it up then used something like a tractor with loader to lift the trunk out the way. I think it's about a metre thick at what would've been chest height

It seams evaryone makes speeling mistooks Hoes does Meripilus Giganteus spread? Is it spores from the actual fungus part? How safe is it to transport the logs to another wooded area?

Ok it might not have been dead as a dodo, but it never properly came into leaf this year, from what I remember it had come into bud and that was about it

Has anyone got anyone ideas on the diease/fungus which killed off this beach? Not a great photo, but there was a fair bit of this fungus type growth at the base

You must be doing something wrong if you can't shift softwood, if I had a yard to process it in I could sell sitka all day long

Yep it's a busy yard but there's not a chainsaw, axe, or dangerous homemade splitter in sight, where's the fun in that! Working there is probably about as interesting as working in a fish processing factory.

SGM have special online prices that they don't honour over the counter, they didn't say that until I got there, I walked out empty handed, what a waste of time, would never go there again

Was looking through various bars and chains at a place I work part time, found a 36" bar with chain, looked to be plenty of life left on the teeth, but on closer inspection half the teeth appeared to be semi chisel, and the other half full chisel. Obisously someone has joined 2 shorter chains to make a longer one I haven't tried cutting with it, do you think it'll work

Another thing to remember is if a trailer weighs over 1020kgs unladen you'll need an operators licence for it
