  1. Think they like the damp, there's one here about the size of a large van!!
  2. I started out with a small compressor which was ok but the best thing I did was buy the biggest compressor you can run off a 13amp plug, think the tank is 100 or 150l, and belt driven
  3. Did it really reduce the size though? Seems easier to lob it straight on a compost pile! Also bit of a risk with stones etc The last hedge I cut I blew the trimmings straight back under
  4. The main advantage of a wee chipper is leaving the chip in situ Bare in mind hedge cuttings, prunings etc aren't something you can really feed through a chipper
  5. Looks like wild haggis, which is completely different to the raw haggis you get in the supermarkets, especially when raw.
  6. Yes, it's just the ticket. She got a day out to the Isle of Skye today
  7. Wonder if you could improve on that idea with a bathroom extractor fan and length of flexi hose?
  8. There's Wee Jim on here, 20 miles away in Ballater, if that's close enough
  9. Thanks Openspaceman and Stock, got round to fitting the rapid extend valve today, as the flowfit one needed replaced. Seems to be pretty sturdy Tried to get a video of it showing high speed and normal speed
  10. Not used them, but try Scotbark. https://www.scotbarkuk.com/
  11. 1st pic Scots Pine on a farm 2nd pic Narrow access (with a nasty gate latch sticking out) 3rd pic Dead Elm in a garden 4th pic Dead Elm on a farm
  12. Looks like just the weather for it!!
  13. That's some amount of logs! Looks like Estonia
  14. Not being funny but is that a joke?
  15. A lot of the old fenceposts were larch, and are still standing 30/40 years on, and that's 3" square posts. Maybe try a proper sawmill rather than a fencing yard, or maybe look up Octoposts https://www.daviesimplementsltd.co.uk/product/creosote-posts/
  16. Can you not get hold of some nice larch or creosote posts locally? Would last as long as plastic!
  17. Not for the faint hearted
  18. Can't offer much advice, but I (with help from a friend) had to strip and rebuild my oc95. Got the cylinder relined and new piston etc. If you google, you can find the Kubota workshop manual for free download.
  19. Have a look at Muck Truck, or the modified version, the "micro arb truck" You can even get turf tyres for them

    The big 661

My way of looking at it is have a smaller saw and save putting the wear on the big saw
  21. Ended up finding a few faults with the Kubota engine, including the piston broken and only held together by a stuck ring, and a hairline crack in a governor lever that is inside the casing - glad my mate spotted that!
  22. IMO, just throw it wherever requires the least effort or double handling, it will be grand firewood after spending a year or so in a good shed
  23. Barrow bags are a similar size to wheelie bins, 200l-250l, and as the name suggests can be moved about easily by a sack barrow
  24. Interesting bit of kit, looks like a nice project for a forum member!!? https://www.gumtree.com/p/plant-tractors/vintage-mobile-sawmill-/1263294441
  25. Interesting Is there any disadvantages, like shorter lifespan of valve, extra wear on the rest of the hydraulic system, or lots of heat created in high speed mode?
