I've got a folding ramp permanently fitted to the van, so I can just drive the machine straight in and out I've been thinking for a long time how to improve my setup, none of the ready made splitters meet my needs of fast, powerful, very mobile, robust, and narrow access. I was looking for weeks/months on ebay etc to find the right track dumper, most in this size have a smaller engine. Very nearly bought a 1ton machine but (now thankfully!) that deal fell through. 500 mile trip to get this TCP dumper. As new they did have a PTO option. Took ages to get it all figured out and then was let down numerous times, and waiting on parts. Local hydraulics shop are very knowledgeable but also very busy and terrible at returning calls. Needed to get a cylinder repaired, various hoses made up, and the main part was an extra slice for the valve block which in the end I had to speak to the technical manager of the component manufacturer to get! Relocated the battery, and fitted a much bigger one. And fitted a hydraulic oil cooler. Quite a hard machine to work on as it's so tight for space I had it in my head it would take a week - 3 months later and it's usable but not finished Need to put a few days use on it to find the next set of faults

I would say if you want to work under it don't get anything too bright or you will be dazzled and have bad shadows, and possibly a headache. You really want lights as high as possible, pointing down. Maybe mount a long pole on the firewood processor, and wiring via an Anderson plug or similar

Got an infrared thermometer, ran the machine for approx. 30 mins and got a reading of 66*C on most of the auxiliary pipe fittings - don't know if it would have got hotter than that. That was with an air temp of about 5*C so on a summers day it would be warmer still.

Here's a very rustic one I built in the woods, last year I think it was. Even has a backrest/drink holder! All the wood is from trees within about 50yds max of where the bench now is.

The solid puncture proof trolley tyres are good but unfortunately they still use the same crappy bearings/wheel centres etc which will eventually fall apart

At 1500 euros, how does that compare to a "proper" kindling machine? Although not much use commercially, the machine in the vid looks like it would be useful on an estate with sawmill and/or ready supply of off cuts, and where a lot of kindling is used in the 'big house' and cottages etc. Good use of a rainy day! If it had a larger infeed tray it would probably be more productive, and you could ditch the daft wee poker!
