  1. you boys must hit a lot of crap with your chains
  2. I've done both arb and forestry. When i say forestry i mean, felling, brashing, cutting to size, stacking for each product. Planting programs, woodland thinning etc.... and yes, 8-10 tanks a day . it feels like a nice break when the saw runs out of fuel
  3. Just some smaller firms you can't get in for the bigger firms, as some don't like new people lol + they want to give low rates. I get up your way a bit doing work at quarries for a firm, spraying etc and fencing
  4. Anyone thought of putting something in writing, that if their saw blows up during work and its found to be fuel then the company has to have it repaired or replaced? or you could fill your can with fuel and oil and charge per litre used of each....
  5. i've been offered a tenner in the past for the use of my361 for the day... really hard to get good rates here at the moment, lots of people climbing for not much money.
  6. Can i ask what sort of day rate you'd do this for though? 5 ltr fuel mixed is about 9.00 what about a 24" chain... 30 ish quid if you wreck it..... wear on saw etc..... you've got to charge 150 a day to make it worth the above?
  7. I agree with this, but not for 100 a day like firms offer around here
  8. Evening all, Just wondering if many wear glasses at work? I wear glasses but not for work, but have decided after a well overdue eye test that i'm going to start using glasses more, it's silly not to. I'm not blind, can see ok, used to get headaches due to a lazy eye. So: No glasses..... No point in this option Glasses...... risk of coming off, what they like in the rain? Contact lenses..... waste of time, i'm always getting stuff in my eyes and rubbing them. Laser eye treatment.... ? What do you do or have done? Cheers Chris

  11. I put a lot of time into my business, even when just subbie climbing to sort the week/days out, when doing my own jobs sorting everything out, staff, prepping equiptment and checks... Then there's service's, repairs, invoicing and quoting, time spent on phone, time spent on here, time spent processing logs! I'm a believer in what you put in you get out! and feel i could do more, sometimes i do admit to myself i need a day off, like today i had the day off, but was still doing repairs! My girlfriends not happy with me though.....
  12. More pics and the video!! Well done james for doing it! Bray on lad!

  17. Hi there everyone, please can you id me this stump grinder? Struggling with this! Its got a 20hp kohler engine, been told its a laski? f450? Its just i ordered a multi tip wheel up and it doesn't fit my shaft size is 40mm, the size on the new wheel is 60mm and that was ordered up as a laski f450 which i was told it was. This machine does not drive, its a push about one!
  18. Good luck Quite a few companies want you to have 5 years experiance... some may not though so keep trying! I may look into doing a working abroad trip at somepoint All the best
  19. Deffinetly look like the ones posted in a thread not to long ago, about poor quality and breaking!! Stay clear bud
  20. Ash reduction done the other very very windy day! Customer wanted it topped, basically cut in half, but managed to convince them to go for a reduction instead. Limb also drawn back from the garder. Did loose a couple of growth points due to the wind and size of bits removed. This is 2 tree's next to each other: before:
  21. Saw that on the news, cracking photo Look at all that fire wood!! Jammy beggar
  22. Andy Mcloughlin funny guy
  23. Buy a caravan and come up north with a mobile workshop for a few weeks spud
  24. I'm after something similar for my other truck. They are dear and don't seem to pop up often. Does anyone know the width dimensions? as i have only 19" to play with.... May be a case of knocking one up...
  25. you cannot account for something like that, esp if you've used the climber before and they seem ok...... And why should the person do it thereselves if they can get someone in, do less work and still earn a good wage? MAN POWER would be good to know the reasons why the climber didn't do it though.....
