  1. Where abouts in north yorkshire
  2. you can buy a good secondhand machine for that sort of money, small stump grinders go for between 1600-1800 quid, then 1800-2250 quid. missed a dosko one that went for 730 quid!! was gutted
  3. You can do the top cut first, then take slices off as you go down, don't go straight for the bottom cut to match, do a cut a bit above first, then you can see a bit better then do the final cut to meet the top cut Try it
  4. Are these the orange "rock" ones your talking about?
  5. Yup +1 on the ex army gear, thats what my climbing bag is, someone called morgan had mine lol Got one for my rigging gear too but as said the bollard is what causes problems.....
  6. Surely the apf will be the best time to buy one? then the husky out too then so can compare... my 200t inc 14" bar was 405 all in in apf 2010 good do really as sold my older 020t's and it paid for a fresh saw
  7. I've got a hitch climber but i feel like i need to tend the hitch to get it to grip the rope properly, plus i don't like the fact of holding your weight on one arm whilst you tend the line..... am going to give it another go as haven't bothered with it really but, think i'll just end up with a spiderjack so i don't have to hold my weight and tend as it will self tend with minimal sit back
  8. Do you install a cambium saver from the ground though or just when you reach the top?
  9. Check the carb h + l settings are at manufacturor settings, good clean air filter, do the chain tension if necessary.... start the saw and try get the idle to the correct setting chain still spinning then clutch creeping idle still rubbish, then check the tank breather vent, fuel filter and pickup pipe, inlet manifold for splits Apologies if telling you how to suck eggs lol Also if you richen up the l setting and the idle will settle then you have an air leak somewhere
  10. Hi mileage vehicles, and people sliding off the seats rather than stepping in and out.
  11. Not sure.... all i know is i was told if its twisted syc then its worth something otherwise its firewood? i'll be checking answers out to this thread
  12. I was keeping it sensible'ish, bottom line lol Thats for 2nd hand gear... He could start with a smiley transit and old vermeer etc...... all depends on budget, but its a bottomless pit out there.....
  13. Well i originally wanted to work under someones wing nd learn from them, but thats gone out of the window i'm afraid. Not sure what help, its not specific just in general theoretical, inspection/hazard/strength , fungus, allsorts. Will get some more info on the isa cert and rfs course.
  14. If you want your own truck, chipper and equiptment..... bye bye 10k
  15. I have only seen 1 method of locking saws up which i thought was any good and it was when i used to sub for someone, they would keep their saws in a BIG old bank safe.... big numb heavy thing, 6" thick door etc
  16. Out of curiosity and performance of the saw, are you a 12" bar man or a 14" bar man?
  17. Horrible to hear this!! Where abouts are you?
  18. What you think of the study guide etc? I can't really seen much benefits from being a member at the moment other than the addition of the isa member sticker on the side of my truck lol also the isa has to be re done every 3 years whereas the rfs doesn't? ??
  19. Hi there Just wondering if its going to be benifical to be an isa arb memeber..... I am very interested in furthering my knowledge, with no one around here willing to give input or any help on the subject. I was thinking of either the RFS or the isa cert. I am at the beginning of the ladder in theory arb. I was looking at becoming a member with the isa to look into doing the cert exam at some point. Was looking into getting the study guide combined with the audio cd. Going for the 140.00 a year package with the 12 anually magazines. I have only been self employed for a year or so and its quiet and tough at the moment. But thought i can be furthering my knowledge during the quiet parts. Are there any other benifits from becoming a member? other than the discount on books and the member sticker and magazines? Would look into purchasing the revision book and audio cd as stated and also the "art and science of practical rigging" maybe a few others at some point. Although not sure people (customers) will value the isa cert arb round here due to amount of people doing tree work but it would be something that i would feel good about doing. Any opinions and or advice? Cheers
  20. Lol haha I've never used a husky 338xpt but was just comenting on shape I've seen one and heard it, it sounded a little micky mouse though
  21. No comments on the saw being wider? or so i thought when i looked at one, to plasticy. I talk abbout when you haven't clipped you saw to your harness and try to advance to a new position, then it gets stuck in a fork etc!! where as the husky 338xpt had a pear drop shape back end? Thought it would have been nice to produce something not so "Square" at the back end....
  22. Agree with Skyhuck here, Dick Leigh is a top man! Do you think that the saw will be a pain for getting stuck in forks etc as its got fatter at the back end and the shape doesn't seem to slope so to speak....?
  23. What kind is it etc? There's someone on here with a missing greenmech...
  24. I agree, there is a lot of difference between 3 bags and 10! also he's a local firewood chap aswell, why let him take credit for your product? Customers may say, "X" sells really good wood, and reccomend there "friend" etc to him. Maybe stick to your guns and sell, both seasoned and un seasoned at 45? depends how you want to do it
