    question

thought builders were 0.63 or something...
  4. Took it apart and gave it a good clean, its quite simple inside i thought.... it was full of crap though, nothing would slide nicely old grease dust and crud in there..... scraped it all off, cleaned it up and oiled it all up. Had to take it apart as the cable was buggered inside, still have enough workable length for now for the job swl 30ctw i think it says stamped on the side.
  5. Sorry but where is shuttleworth college? Cheers
  6. It looks like a tirfor tu8 or tu16 but doesn't have a carry handle.... going off what they look like on jonesies website...
  7. Just got the tirfor just now will need to find out what model it is etc and how to service it etc..... clean internals and oil really..... Owners just trying to find the handle over the next week or so
  8. Excellent!! i'm to tight to pay for the pa1 and pa6 so don't do spraying i'm afraid, but i did look into it! think it was £400.00 Glad you've passed
  9. Evening all, I've a job to do to remove some conifers and some stumps, access is good. I plan to dig around the stumps and sever the roots, and have the pulling pressure applied via a winch to my truck.... I've been offered a couple of winches for not a lot of money and will do the job fine, but wondering which to go for.... one of them is a Yale hand winch..... one with a chain like a motorbike drive chain with a handle and ratchet system.... small and lightweight the other is a tirfur, its old, cable is fraid and will need replacing at some point, hope the guy has found the handle! big heavy winch.... I know that tirfur are good winches, is it better to go for this and replace the cable at some point? and can you get spares if needed for the tirfur winch? Cheers Chris
  10. Do you not have more than one climbing saw
  11. I use a ms200t with a 14" bar for dismantling and pruning, but think i may try a 12" bar for pruning.... 14" is plenty! i cut through allsorts of diameter wood when blocking down, till i get a bigger saw passed up! Leave the 16" for the americans
  12. Excellent pics there tom!!! Why's that saw a blue colour hanging from the climber curious what make cc etc makita?
  13. I was going to say ratchet strap and then climb, but that was until i saw that the crack was indeed opening and shutting slightly in the wind.... Would have to see the tree in question to see whats actually holding it up.... Think that if you could fell the back half out (no crown) then put a gob, albeit small one in the half with the crown, then drag it over with a winch.... Better to see the tree. Let everyone know how you get on Walking away idea doesn't sound good where there's a will there's a way and it should be SAFE

  17. This saw will have come out when there wasn't very good oil on the market, oil nowadays has come on leaps and bounds in quality and lubrication properties etc.... Some old saws say 25:1 but are run on 50:1 now due to better oils. Someone will be along shortly and help you further
