  1. we run and always have at 540 around 1800 thoughts??? Think is a A340 with lovely touch buttons rather than the Bar will take a pic as buttons are lovely
  2. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/43298-how-much-should-i-offer.html#post670061 just cut it into 6 ft pieces:thumbup:
  3. was it on blue slate:confused1: how lang ago was that then tis even in colour now:thumbup: and it meets current legislation:thumbup:
  4. In all reality i know several guys that have paid to thin a woodland so they could have the wood. I also know a few folk that have been and cut trees down for the wood so what is the problem of him trying. I for one think it,s mad however if i was not in the industry and wanted some wood i would interested in at least part of it if not all. In all honesty rather than paying for some wood. I do hope it does not sell but certainly will not surprise me if it did and certainly would not fancy giving the bloke a price if he did have to pay for it to be removed.
  5. it's not blue
  6. Big wide handle at the back pull it back hard and will allow you to be in free run. Might be worth someone showing you way to use it and shear pins ect. WHERE ARE YOU BASED:thumbup:
  7. do they do tandem saws these days
  8. I always use it on my own as if someone else had hold of it with me they would be with the min 5m rule:confused1:

    Tree motion

I did but rather than re tie just add a Knot at the side of the stopper knot. Most I know run shorter unless they are bigger than the average guy:sneaky2:
  11. why would you want to mod a stihl:confused1:
  12. Personally i dont think there is a major issue if they are supervised but if they can go off and play with it by themselves then there is. It is all about education and trust. My garage is full of sharp and dangerous stuff and my son has always had access however he knows what he is allowed to do and when and the consequences of breaching that trust
  13. I do hope they were made to plant new trees as a longer term solution to the drastic issue. If all those were covered by TPO orders then I would dread to think what is allowed that is not in a prominent location
  14. when you look in the brochure they generally offer 3 bar sizes do not get the biggest. Middle is usually ok and if you want it to cut quick then the smaller one at £250 make does not really matter but generally stihl or husky will keep going longer as parts available.

    boys day out

But how much of it is down to the chain type, sharpening and depth guages, sprocket size I reckon i could affect the cutting speed by a lot dependant on wood choice vs chain setup after a few runs
  16. thought that was ginger:confused1:
  17. Can honestly say I will not be doing another
  18. did you do it in the oven parsnips i hope:thumbup:
  19. Thought I would post a pic at the start and see if anyone else had been daft enough to have a go at a big un
  20. Tom bet you had to leave site when you came down chipping and raking that lot would of been a nightmare:thumbup:

    cs40 or 41

    41:thumbup:
  23. Sounds like 38 to me I know a few that have done it for bat inspections and 2 that did it to Tag birds of prey
  24. when you run your hands down is there any narrowing or bulges just above or below. If not the damage looks ok but looks like a well used rope that has either come to the end of it,s life or is getting towards that stage. As someone else said if you have any doubts you will find it affects your trust and is not worth it. If you have loler inspections then ask their opinion and if not either find one or ask a local experienced tree bods thoughts but end of it,s your life and your call:thumbup:
