  2. Looking good there dean If ever you want either to pop over or I could pop over there are lots of little bits that make it easier and quicker. Well I certainly find it easier than when I first started:thumbup: Got 2 to do but with a recently dislocated shoulder need to make the brain rather than the braun do the work:thumbup:
  3. last job I did for my mums friend took me 3 hrs and got 10 jars of various home made jams and a home made cake 3 weeks on the trot BEST paid job ever:thumbup: If I could do another I would want home made bread just because that would be then heaven:thumbup:
  4. I have one of those what fuel should I put in it:confused1:
  5. My son works for me on suitable jobs when out of school and has done so sice he was born really. Now 15 and loves the money:confused1: I did buy some Arborcoms which although not cheap give me more control and he learns more and is safe and we have a good laugh as well:thumbup: No pocket money if he wants money he works and tbh is very good better than most groundies and tbh climbs well as well. He does not want to do it as a career but he does enjoy it. A couple of other tree companies also use him in the hols which says a lot imo
  6. there are issues with having staff under 16 I dont know all the rules but I do know my son can not have a job till he is 16 or leaves school unless it is washing up ect. My mate wanted him to work in hols on landscaping but looked into it and was a total no go end of. do you have an accountant if so ask them as they should of been paying him since birth if you can syphon off 7k tax free
  7. tried that but did not work not enough weight on the jockey wheel It would only work where I could of pushed it so sold it to a guy on here:thumbup:
  8. slip it on the studs to hold it firm and pull it back
  9. Mewp:thumbup: well someone had to say it
  10. maybe a husky would of been better:thumbup: seriously I have cut several on purpose and the bigger the saw the faster the cut however in a real situation you would be more likely to cut along the strop that at 90 degrees
  11. it,s all down to what the company and the risk assessment says. If you read http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg317.pdf Gloves – to EN 381-7. The use of appropriate gloves is recommended under most circumstances. The type of glove will depend on a risk assessment of the task and the machine. Consider the need for protection from cuts from the chainsaw, thorny material and cold/wet conditions If we are to be officious you could be required to wear chainsaw gloves when starting a climbing saw on the ground to warm it up then take them off to climb a tree have you read A Guide to the Use of MEWPs in Arboriculture which at £5 is the bargain of the century:thumbup: If all else fails ask the man in charge for clarification but be ready to have an educated discussion:thumbup:

Tom They come apart and fit on easy no problems at all. I have got one on a flipline and it is defiantly the best thing. I did used to have a treeworker flipline that was a bit thin and did slip but on the Yale and other nice soft ones they are very good Most of the guys on the team either have one or want one:thumbup: You will not regret it. I replaced the connector with a dmm Quickdraw like this Petzl Express Quickdraw Sling 11cm & 17cm - Rock + Run Mine has the rubber insert (not sure if that one has) and is really nice and flexible and obviously gives it the cut away link.
  13. I struggle to count to 10 so not sure:confused1:
  14. A picture for me:thumbup:
  15. the bigger question is that as an employee how does your employer show competency
  16. on long extending branches go half way then half hitch half hitch sink cut half hitch half hitch lower the end then come back in gob on top and lift up and it all folds up. Hope that made sense cheers
  17. Just thought I would put the up to date one on to save confusion:thumbup: cs41_underake_sectional_felling__assessment_schedules_june_2010_v2 (2).pdf
  18. Nice avatar yup:thumbup:
  19. can I have a lift then:thumbup:
  20. agreed I run 325 1.5 guage which has a 5 on the drive link Stihl chain on all my saws. If it had a 6 it would of been 1.6mm and for a stihl
  21. when you have the pulley sent up get the rope put through with a knot in the end ready threaded with a marlin spike the other side so you can clip it to your harness to be able to tie it on ready to go without any chance of dropping it:thumbup: similar for using it to move around the tree:thumbup: have you done your CS41
  22. what has indg317 have to do with dismantling though this would be more appropriate http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/afag805.pdf
  23. is it firewood or kindling:thumbup:
  24. why would they not come out to repair it?
  25. on a serious note en 397 is tested as a blow to the top and en 12492 is top and side so basically is a superior level so all is good. Taken from vertex vent High strength polycarbonate shell protects against impact (EN 12492 and EN 397 standards) as is the same for type C instead of A Now if it was chipper and chainsaw muffs that would open a can of worms:thumbup:
