  2. no issues on footwear but you will have to wear spikes for the pole rescue and a heal certainly helps with spikes. But no need for specialist footwear or chainsaw cheers
  3. start a thread are you qualed to do pruning or dismantling ie 40 41 or 32 medium 34 winblown and stump grinder tickets and mewp tickets and 48 and pesticide and trees and also do you have loler inspections and conform with puwer inspections of chippers and saws and see what reaction you get. if you want a bigger list then pls pm:blushing: If you want pics I will see what groundie has done with them Grow up and be real:thumbup:

I see it the other way round I work for a big firm that has to abide by the majority:thumbup: of the rules and all the smaller guys around dont give a rats arse no quals or not enough no loler no risk assessment No vibration monitoring no health checks no puwer inspections no ect ect ect So how do we compete with that We do it on been better than them and crack on:thumbup:

  8. did a big tree several yrs ago and extended climbing line with another. End got put in chipper with 2 crabs on they both went through into the truck but the rope did not the rollers can not push it through into the blades and the blades are generally not sharp enough to cut a rope without it been pushed down so it got wrapped round and stalled the machine when all the easy slack had gone though. I have a marlow 13mm rope if anyone wants a go:thumbup:

  15. interesting idea and plan what kind or instructor- public ratio I personally would loose the Pull start section as most of there saws will be siezed or broken before then:blushing: Sorry in all reality I think most will never do it and if they come into get some cord then might as well get it fitted Adjusting tick over would be more beneficial. or Bar care or adjusting Oil flow would a video aimed at Joe public lasting 2 hrs ish be worth doing certainly it has surprised me Stihl or Husqvarna have not done it as you could have it playing in the shop or sell a DVD with the saw:thumbup:

    Making blanks?

    ideally slab down the grain in the middle and then either side dependant on how thick and how many you want. Usually you do not want the centre (pith) as this would split just have a go and see how it goes but basically as if it was going to be a plank

    Sleep

    an ear;y night with the wife usually helps:blushing: I never go to bed till after 12 and read till 1 usually and if not asleep by 2 just get up and pull an all nighter then sleep good for a few nights. Usually miss at least 1 night a week. Always up by 7am always tired but still struggle to sleep and never sleep in the chair unless I have my pipe and slippers:thumbup:
