  2. Alex, what are you on about?
  3. They do have PU in the soles. They are all utterly overpriced shit. Until they stop making the soles out of stuff that forces you to buy new boots every year for £300 I won’t buy any.
  4. anything after the discovery 2 seems riddled with problems, electrical and plenty other known faults, including a propensity to snap the crankshaft for fun.

  7. Yes, when I bought my saw I had an order going into L+S Engineers for a bunch of spares anyway and I just added a new filter for spare and some extra fibre washers. Stihl call it a gasket, part no. 1144 129 0900
  8. Yep that easy 😁 what you don’t realise is by the time you collect the timber cut it to size ,kindle it and deliver . One person can make 5 bags an hour 🤣
  9. Check if you are getting 12v to the forward coil plug on the DCV when the rollers start working. That'll determine whether your problem is electrical or hydraulic.
  10. Morning all, Bryan Ferry weather here today. Hard rain’s gonna fall. A day in the sheds spannering and splitting logs I think.

  12. I was there in November, strain guages everywhere and screw adjustable jacks/supports, so presumably they "tweak" the individual props to balance the loading, but I imagine I remember it was all fabricated steel, with wood blocks only where the steel met the hull? cheers,
  13. Our Polish son in law asked me did I know any likely suppliers, here in N. Ireland, because another Polish joiner friend of his has built himself a traditional Oak framed and pegged house for himself, down about Dublin somewhere, which has resulted in a few people asking him to build them a similar dwelling. But he needs to source the Oak? I can only suspect with the RoI being in the EC, and the Polish connections, that it would make sense to import the timber direct from Poland? Or what could a U.K. supplier or sawmill offer? Since any prices I have found when searcing online appear to be exhorbinate. I will be phoning the few contacts I know of here in N.I. tomorrow. I would obviously need to get more detail re likely lengths and quantities. But any other input would be more than welcome. Thank you, in anticipation, Marcus

  19. New hydraulic fittings fitted Apart from being shiny, they seem to work a lot better than the old ones, though I haven't used them in anger yet. They take up more space, the assembly is considerably longer than the old ones. The result of this is that in certain positions, the hydraulic hoses are on a quite tight angle. I'm guessing this is fine; it'll have to be. Ordered Manuli couplers from LS Engineers, and various adapters and washers from Burnett & Hillman.
  20. No , although it would not hurt to lap the valves i . I was talking about the valve guides . They might be worn .
  21. Tom back from the states so treating to a playful of Britsh beige. Sausage meat, bubble and squeak, fried eggs and baked beans!
  22. Ah but physics is not simple, and not what I see from trying both in the Echo. 1/4" has 20% more cutters in contact so the extra width of 3/8 is about the same, but full chisel is more efficient and a lot easier to sharpen, and better on small pruning cuts. I bought the PM3 on arbtalks recommendation. I'd suggest you try the 3/8FC.. Stihl do a narrow 1.1 gauge 3/8" FC that is probably the fastest over all. I cant see it in 40DL however so would need to be shortened.. Stihl 14" Picco Super 3 Pro (PS3 Pro) 3/8" P .043″ (1.1mm) 3699-000-0050 - 50 Drive Links - Radmore & Tucker WWW.RADMORETUCKER.CO.UK The PS3 Pro saw chain is a low profile full chisel tooth chain with a narrow kerf for increased cutting performance of 20% compared to PS3 chain...

  25. Agreed that sounds fine. Run through the other checks and let us know. Not idling or surging are classic symptoms of an air leak somewhere.
  26. Kram, if you have quoted 3 men on the hedge an you think it's doable just stick to your guns. As for the disagreement about the arisings of the tree takedown. You need to make sure you write in your quote exactly what you are planning to do with them as I have had this before. Customer then quibbles and if it was verbal then you are on very rocky ground as they can just say 'that was not my understanding'. So clearly and concisely written quote can save trouble further down the line. Obviously only relevent in those few cases where you have those customers who just don't do as they are told and just get their wallet out. If he wants you to get in and sort that brash out then some boards on the ground is your answer.
