  1. Iv had several iveco,s over the years and there good trucks I'd rarther use the 6.5 tonne Daily over a down rated 7.5 tonne truck The 3.0 engines are really powerful and pull like trains and surprisingly good on diesel You won't even notice your towing a large chipper even with a full load of chip
  2. 7.5 tonner anything from 3 to 4 tonne depending on make and body type ( keep away from Tarmac Bodys there heavy 3.5 tonner transit etc 1 tonne of there abouts as most trucks are 2200 / 2300 kg empty add men n kit
  3. Rebodied P38 sounds good !! I had a 4.6 hse when they was new, bags of power nice gearbox never had any agg but as always with V8 heavy on fuel but LPG does ease the pain
  4. I take it your working in the neighbors garden ? Can't see the problem show them your certs smile be nice do the job and on to the next one !!
  5. We made adaptor,s for our braker to knock posts in and it works well, just work of the back of the truck, nice and easy
  6. My diesel hyster drives across hard core and it waighs 4.5 tonne it only gets stuck on soft ground !! Have you thought about a skid steer ? Im getting one for my yard but am planing on taking it to jobs as I can move it about on a plant trailer easy and a set of forks on it makes sence
  7. Just noticed you've bolted that tow bar to box section and unless you've got some plate behind it to strengthen it as you've tighten up the bolts it would of pulled in and helped the tow bar to wiggle lose and then snapping
  8. Some angle iron from the bottom of the drop plate to the chassis ( at an angle ) bolt it in to place, I can't believe you thought that tow bar would be ok, if that come off and went head on in to oncoming traffic of mounted the pavement it would of done serious damage

    Overloaded

Truck load of oak must of been heavy as wouldn't tip up so had to drag some off with digger
  11. Auto, the 3 speed box is lovely, it flotes along with cc on and just take overdrive off on hills, mine was a 4.7 V8 running on gas much nicer smoother and powerful then the diesel and with lpg there's not much difference in mpg in fact the petrol / lpg might have the edge
  12. Hi Tom, Iv had a D3 for about 18 months now it's a 55 plate 2.7 auto ( it replaced a landcruiser Amazon 100 series) so had a lot to live up to and at fist I regretted it but I have to say the D3 has grown on me and it's unfair to compare it to a LC anyway My D3 has all all terrain tyres gets used hard for towing horse boxes big Ifors off road etc All in all its a good motor it gets low 20,s around town and just over 30 mpg on a run The only thing I don't like is the weak air suspension as it takes to long to adjust but at 11 years old probley due a new one All in all lot a car for the money
  13. Land sells for what the buyer is prepared to pay for it, good plots normally change hands by word of mouth, if a plot makes it to auction there's too meany people bidding on it etc Iv got a nice plot in nice area and get about 6 letters a year tro the post box offering to buy it some very strong offers too if you find a plot and you want it get the deal done there n then to avoid disappointment
  14. Would be better to get the right cab for the swap as it would be simple and quick and you have pleanty of spares, there's not much gain to putting a later shape cab on as there almost identical and the wirering will be a challenge
  15. You had a good truck and a good trailer, when I tow with pick ups I put weight in the back of the truck as I find pick ups are too light on the back end, but you never seemed over loaded do I suspect your tow bar was to high for the trailer, I find it helps if you put a Dixon Bait adjustable type tow bar on the truck like the old range rovers always had fitted Glad your both ok bud
  16. On the new trucks we use on the railway work are fitted with scales and both transits and sprinters are over weight on the front axle with just people in the cab Merc have had a go at sorting this problem by removing the passinger doulbe seat and replacing it with captain seats
  17. Nice little truck, how much cheeper is it as chassis cab ? How much for a new arb body ? How much to convert a tipper body to high sides ? Get the figures and do the math see what works out best for you and your needs
  18. I just price it up for more staff, drag limbs out as big as poss and wack the small brush in wheelie bins etc Have taken the TW 125 down the back of a garden before, we was topping 12 conifers across the back and fired the chip around the bottoms of them All depends really diffront jobs diffront customers
  19. Pallet trucks don't like bumps and small stones, you'll need put a lot more effort in lol
  20. What I ment was maybe the old couple don't want use some body who's put a card tro there door as there son or some one they know will come and do it for them !!
  21. Have you not thought it could be there son or some family member who's helping them ?
  22. this job does need safety critical staff on the platform but just one coss and only when your facing up the trees all staff on the platform need track certs BTA I'd reduse them fist and pull them over in your garden then hire a coss for just the days your working on the platform 1 or 2 shifts depending on window of time, the area needs barriers and signs and can be done at night to avoid any disruption to the service I don't see this as a bad job it's pritty straght forward
