  1. So what holds all the hubs, shocks, etc ? Is it on leafs at the front ? It sounds like the bushes are nackerd ( it's been a few years since iv had any dealings with a cabstar )
  2. Sounds like it's the wishbones cheep easy fix on a transit £50 a side so should be about the same on cabstar, I doubt it's the prop as you said you can feel it tro steering do your problem is coming from the front end, hurry up & get it sorted before it starts knocking your tyres out or there's another £100 there, If I was you I'd jack it up and move a few bits about with a bar to see where the play is coming from
  3. Is this what your looking for...... http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=261922475822
  4. That price you've been quoted seems well over the top for both replacement engine & the rebuild price is tro the roof As your already well in to the truck with the body & clutch you'd be better of getting a complete 2nd hand engine to drop in & should cost you £1000 top wack & 150/250 to have fitted plus oil n filters Then you have spare pump, injectors, turbo, etc for spares
  5. Toyota Landcruiser is your best bet, it won't brake down & it won't cost you a small fortune to repair But if your set on sticking with Land Rover,s then the disco is better then the Range Rover just for the 7 seats and a more useable work motor with A/T,s I sold my Landcruiser and replaced it with a disco 3 ( big mistake ) so I'm treating the disco as a stop gap
  6. The alloy planking looks real neat, just wonderd why you didn't remove the original transit sides and go the the extra ? then the body would look better and not like you've just added some alloy ?
  7. No not really, just aim chipper down a bit iv got the normal sides and cage top sides that all fit on the truck as well but the high sides stay on 99% of the time I'm just about to wire up reverse cameras one looking in back of tipper to help reversing trailers & see whats going on when tipping & one above number plate to help see when hooking trailers up
  8. I removed my normal sides and made some high sides out of 2x1 box section and 2mm sheet metal (about £80 in materiel ) and used the orangnal body stlye clasps so iv got the option to still use small sides if needs be
  9. Iv hired the tow-along mewp and tbh there not my cup of tea as once the legs are down its fair to big a foot print for the type of work I often do plus you lose all the out reach do the the legs, My landrover 110 mewp can set up in seconds parked tight up agenst any wall house garage etc and the cabstar is the same but better with massive out reach and hight Like said it opens up other incomes too iv had it out re-pointing chimleys, changing light bulbs in workshops, steam cleaning roof windows on units, painting at hight and I use it to put my crimbo lights up on house too !! My mind is made up I'm buying a cabstar and can't wait to get it Thanks for all your comments guys
  10. Just read the report on that, seems they set up in soft uneven ground and used small feet pads and was not trained in common sence the poor guy was out of work 5 months
  11. I know what your saying Jon, but there's a good useable bed on them nissan,s to carry track matts & waffle boards so the truck should never be put in a position to get stuck, plus it's never going to be working alone, and with a winch on the front & back if the worst did happen it can be self recoverd by winching off the 2nd truck mate
  12. Thanks guys, I feel really safe in my LR 110 but when I hire out the bigger tracked or tow along mewp I just don't feel so safe, there very "bouncey" and the nissan goes very high with a massive out reach for such a small truck it was concerning me I'm going to look in to hire one out for a day to give it a good try before you buy

  14. Iv seen a few of these come up for sale with a 20 meter working hight and 9 meter out reach and thinking about getting one Has any one got or used one ? I currently own a LR 110 mewp I don't use it often but when I do its a real good bit of kit Iv been taking down some. 75ft / 80ft poplar,s last week in a real confined space with work shops, static caravans, and one of these would of been ideal
  15. Take it to a boating shop & get them to splice it if you can't do it yourself
  16. There's a truck on eBay.com motors for every pocket john, the choice is massive iv often thought about bringing one over from the states, I love the big crew cabs long beds 4x4 dually,s £25k would buy & ship a real nice one home plus it would be worth more straght away & if you wanted to anything the power is unbelievable mate
  17. Pick up truck as a toy !! Surly it's got to be yank ??
  18. My PTS run out years ago, I'm on LUL now but I'm sure you will need a rail medical before you can book on to a PTS but like already said most firms will sort this out for you FOC if you already hold chainsaw / strimmer certs Try looking on railwaypeople.com for job offers or if you know of any local firms give them ring Best of luck
  19. Transit & landrover is a good combo
  20. Transits have low running costs, there's one for every body's pocket there the back bone of Britton
