  1. How meany diff locks have you got ? If you have 3 diff locks 1 in gearbox & 1 in each axel that's why your steering seems heavy and it's why your tearing the ground up when turning this is normal But you may have 1 diff lock in rear axel and an LSD ( limited slip diff ) in the front You best bet it to only engage theses when needed Some times after use you will need to turn them off then reverse back a few feet to disengage them Running in normal 4x4 will not where your tyres out and won't cost you much more to run Your doing the right thing by trying out you truck
  2. I use a suzuki 700 king quad auto with IFS & IRS plus diff locks it pulls an ifor 16ft with a 3 tonne dumper on it & moves horse boxes around with ease, iv got tow bars back & front and a 3 tonne 12volt winch, very handy bit bit of kit, also Honda Forman or Yamaha Grizzly are good
  3. One of my mates has got a hydrolic winch on his utility 110 & he had it pipped up for running tools etc but the place that fitted them didn't recommend running a long splitter for any length of time becouse the hydro tank is very small and would get very hot, I was thinking of doing the same on my 110 cherry picker as it's got a large hydro tank & can run all day no prob but like already said its cheeper & easer to just run of a porta pack,
  4. Roller Shutters are good, the weak point is normley the roof of side door etc, iv got roller shutters and my side door is home made out of box section. & plate with a van lock welded on, and a silent alarm that rings my mob (iv 3 mins away) most thieves will avoid roller shutters due to the racket they make
  5. It's on Eurosport right now sky 412
  6. That shouldn't be to difficult, just mount a defender truck cab on a landcruiser chassis & wile your doing that make it a 130 or what ever wheel base suits your needs, That would be a real nice conversion big diesel auto with 3 diff locks
  7. You can buy the tub & all panels in fiberglass as a kit, then mount that on a shorted landcruiser 80 series chassis so you end up with the most reliable tuff cool looking truck that will never rust !! My fav is the truck version
  8. I love them old cruisers, So tuff & basic and cool, iv got a jeep wrangler to keep me going till I get one of these lol
  9. One of my mates runs a 12v 5.5 tonne winch that's mounted on his ifor via Anderson Conecters from his tow motor & it works lovely, and his also got a booster pack with Anderson Conection so if he needs to use a diffront motor he just uses the booster,

    Red Top.

I use red tops on my off roaders, very good battery's there have a lot of cranking amps & if you was to use a winch it wouldn't be a problem,
  11. Iv got a home made splitter made from an RSJ and a ram of a JCB it can be powerd by a porta pack or mini digger or any thing with hydrolic attachment,s it works really well, it's as strong as ox, I'll take a pic for ya during the week
  12. If you really need a 4x4 seven seater the landcruiser amazon or nissan patrol are the best as there biggest and super reliable but running cost is high, next is disco 3 & afther that the seven sweaters become too small but if you don't need it to be 4x4 the ford galaxy is a good motor (a million taxi drivers in London all can't be wrong) or maybe go down the merc vito vw transporter road !! Iv gone from an amazon to a disco 3 due too the ol,woman going tro petrol like water but I'm already regretting it as I'm not that keen on the disco but saying that it's not in the same leage so unfair to compaire them the disco is getting 25mpg but iv already replaced the air compresser
  13. No nissan pick up made in an estate with tiny seats in the boot, it's even smaller then our disco 3,
  14. I was looking for 4x4 7 seater to replace my landcruiser and looked at the parthfinder and for me (5 kids aged 2-13) it was very small so I hate to say I ended up with a disco 3, every ones needs are diffront but in my opinion the parhfinder is a small 5 seater with an extra 2 seats for use evey now n then
  15. If you don't want a landcruiser have you thought about a patrol ? Or something smaller the nissan parthfinder is nice little 4x4
  16. The point of wheeler dealers is to save the cars, as when mike buys them there normally well aboused, yer edd does a fantastic job fixing up the motors like the 50p bolt that saved the audi tt gearbox etc but it's good team work as mike is out there finding the motors & running about getting parts for them so edd can stay at the workshop, I think the profit is only for the kitty not there wages as the TV programme is paying that, Wheeler Dealer Trading Up is also good he stats out with a cheep 1000 doller ford falcon in aus and trades around the world ending up with a 40k 348 but again all profit went in the kitty not on air fairs etc
  17. His almost as good as the Aussie Mustering pilots
  18. It's unfair to compare to a shogun as it's a much smaller lighter motor, but iv had shoguns and there good off road n towing and got the upper hand over landrovers as they come with diff locks n LSD etc but trust me once you've had cruisers there's no going back
  19. Iv got a landrover cherry picker that's 10m & if I need bigger I hire one from mk1 hire its a rd towable 17m
  20. The trouble is once you've had cruisers there not really any thing else you get other then a yank pick up like a ford f350 dually as every thing else seems a bit under par nissan patrols are cheep n nasty compared to cruisers discos n range rover ant in the same leage Iv driven the 200 and there twice as good as 100 "pardon the pun" I'm waiting for the 2nd hand ones to come down a bit more before I get one, there at 35k at the mo but then a good yank it's not cheep eather !!
  21. G Wagens are good motors but you just can't beat the big cruisers for comfortable and powerfull, mine would pull 5 tonne effortless & never miss a beat
  22. Simple a 200 series, iv just sold my 100 series and brought the ol,woman a disco 3 but I'm not keen on it and will be looking out for 200 series
  23. DOES in rochford essex are offering 15% off
  24. I think the way forward for you and your staff is a briefing before you start work, explain what each persons role is, what you what done & how, house keeping seems to be your main issue so make sure team clean up as they go, would be a good start, You need the team working togeather, and like someone has pointed out already if the job takes an extra 10 mins so be it, that's when things go wrong when things are rushed A good start is making sure every body knows to put kit away in its place and not in a pile of brush or in path of trucks etc I give my boys 5 briefings a day, one at the yard one at the start of job one half way tro just to let them know if any things changed we might be ahead or in front etc, one at end of job and one back at yard for next days work It's just a quick team talk but every one knows where they stand and whats going on Works for me
  25. **** happens, docking that much from his wages a few weeks befor crimbo is harsh !!
