  1. A good 12v can be had for £500 (superwinch goodwinch warn) iv been useing a cheep eBay £200 winch on my recovery truck with no problem at all and that gets used a lot, as for 8274,s I run 24v gp,s on my jeep wrangler TJ challange truck and on the 4x4 scene the most popular super fast with air But for a winch on the front of defender pulling a few logs about a slight over kill
  2. 12 v winch you can pick up cheep & have it fitted up and running in 10 mins and a lot lighter PTO winch are a lot dearer to buy & more involved to fit and a lot heaver So it all depends on how much you want to spend really & how much you think your going to be useing it !!

I never liked LDV when they was new but when they was new they was competing agenst mk3 transits witch was also a cheep no frills truck ok for local but forget motorways or towing any thing, now things have moved on more power c/l e/w p/s less noise better seats etc why would you put up that lol but each to there own
  6. There's a 100,s on eBay, £3000 will get you a nice tipper on its toes tax & mot,ed ready for work !! Don't get an LDV but transits, ivecos, cabstars, all good work horses

  9. You will alway get more work at better rates turning up with a truck tools etc, I bring my brother in law in on jobs with his truck and get him to take his magnetic signs off as it would look unprofessional I also use a self employed friend with his truck but his got no signs & last of all my motors are signs in magnetic for when I'm on hire, & I'm sure it gets me more work, hope this helps
  10. It is as simple as nuts & bolts iv been swapping luton bodys flat beds etc for tippers for years, yer swapping body's from diffront chassis is not alway a direct fit but can be easy sorted with some box section angle iron etc same as modding body's for diffront tasks you only need basic skills, if your not up to job just pay some one !!
  11. Nuts & bolts
  12. It's hard to beleve that 2 more doors a bench seat can affect the waight so much, my mate got on to fords about the issues with being over wait on front axel with just people on board and they said "we know"
  13. Nice cheep tipper on eBay very simmler to the one iv just brought mines mid conversion as we speak, iv separated the tool box from tipping body and making new sides from scratch FORD TRANSIT TIPPER LPG 2003 | eBay
  14. I jumped in my mates crew cab tipper a few months back & it had a digital waigh scale in the cab it had nothing on the tipper but there was six of us in the cab & it was over waight on the front axel, you can see why vosa love a crew cab it's an easy nick
  15. A firm near me with hiab lorrys pays £4000 a time to have hiabs converted to remote control that's suply & fit, we're talking big hiabs 100 tonne,s I brought an ifor williams off him & when I went to pick it up he crained it from the back of the yard to just behind my truck, very impressive hight & reach
  16. For any one brave enuff to truck cab a cruiser they would have the best 4x4 pick up & if done right they look factory, my 100 series V8 is one hell of a tool it pulls trailer tro muddy tracks no problem & I'm talking fully loaded ifors horse boxes etc and as for power there's plenty (235 bhp I think) it tows effortless once its time to up grade the family motor if I don't get offerd the money for it then it may be time to get the angle grinder out
  17. Vauxhall combo crew van,s are cheep now 5 seats rear folds down flat so it goes back to van twin side loading doors and within your price range
  18. Sounds like loads of agg !! Like others already said buy a tipper or buy a tipping trailer to tow behind your 4x4, last thing you need afther a days work is more work
  19. It's not hard at all mate, just landcruiser,s are a lot dearer then disco,s but also the job would need doing right so the chassis & rear prop need extending again not a problem but if you want a factory look time needs to be taken
  20. I often think about it, iv got a 100 series V8 4.7 on LPG as my family car and its the best 4x4 iv ever had, it tows loaded ifor,s with ease, Once it's time for a new family car I'd like to make it in to a king cab tipper
  21. Iv started taken some pics and will put them up once done in about 3 to 4 weeks hopefully as working on it weekends & evenings, so far iv cut the box off from tipper it needs a few repairs before being painted & bolted to chassis, ordered all the metal to make new sides & repair tipper body, put 4 new tyres on rear wheels & got some of them valve extensions to make checking tyres easy
  22. Not just tippers that need isolating winch,s too
  23. So iv brought an 02 plate transit tipper with a roof high tool box as part of the tipping body (very strong box) & also a fold down tail lift, it's petrol & LPG so about 145 hp and will cost about the same to run as a diesel but no agg on pumps n injectors etc, So iv cut the box off and bolting it to chassis as I won't tip my saws tools up !! & welding some plate from tipper body to bulk head to protect tool box door (just tip body to open door) and the tail lift can be lowerd on to neck of chipper to stop that being un hitched, At the moment it's got truck sides & cage set up witch I'm going to keep but I'm making some roof high sides for it & last but not lest ill put a new shape front end on to freshion it up (07 onwards) and all this taxed n tested for £1100 on eBay (£2000 total once done) there's some scrap tickets in truck that tells me it's 2.2 tonne emtey so still a good little load carrier
  24. Nice truck like a small lorry
  25. A mate lost his brief for 18 months his got a small skip firm he had to employ a driver (HGV) that costing him to the tune off £40K
