  1. I work on London Underground and the boys on veg clearance get £100 -£120 but if a member of the team is a SPC ( site person in charge ) up to £150 but bear in mind the shift is very short 1am to 4am some of the boys also work days ( longer ) but same sort of money None of the LUL boys like working on Network Rail as the money is less the shifts are longer and mainly weekend work The veg clearance Ganges have chainsaw tickets but don't often use saws as strimmers & hedge trimmers cope with ease
  2. You've got 3 options 1 new heavy duty springs from midland springs etc 2 go to scrap yard and get some extra leafs (& longer u bolts) 3 fit air bag to help the springs already on truck You can spend £100 - £400 to sort this 1100 euro,s is crazy The iveco is one tuff truck, as already been said you'll be over waight as your truck is prob 2300 kg plus 1 to 3 blokes leves you a tonne but she will take doulbe that plus more if needed
  3. Hiab in the middle if your only using for log bags will be nice, the hiab trailers tend to go for around the 5K mark, I want to build one myself from an ifor & I'll be going to the local lorry/plant exporter to get the hiab, Most hiabs come on a frame with legs so only need to bolt some plate to trailer chassis and if your going to use transit style pump then just use Anderson connectors from tow motor Good luck with your build
  4. Second hand ones seem to make real strong money but they do come up on eBay and truck trader every now & then, Iv seen hiab,s on twin wheel trailers but I think a tripple axel is the better choice due to the nose wait
  5. Be cearfull going flat out on quads soon as they go over 60 mph they become very light on the steering, the fenders act at wings hence the racing (2wd) quads cut them back I'm not sure how fast my suzuki 700 king quad goes but it sure does have plenty of power
  6. I find a reversing camra on the back of the truck does the trick As for moving chipper about if its a small (750kg) no problem but if you've got a bigger chipper have you thought about fitting caravan motor movers ??? There's a big 9" chipper on a twin axel trailer iv got my eye on and if I end up buying it the 1st thing I'm doing is fitting 2nd motor mover from eBay
  7. Just nip down to a truck breakers near you with cordless skill saw and cut the grip out of the side of a box truck ( get a price 1st )
  8. I use motocross goggles, they don't steam up and there so comfortable you forget you've got them on !! Also use them when useing an angle grinder / disc cutter & if under a motor or truck
  9. It's the way you said "iv bid on & won this chipper so I'm going to look at it today" that comes across like your just going there to view it You say your going to use this as your old one needs money spending on it but this one is 16 years old itself so don't go there expecting a new tw this chipper could have 20,000 hours on it With older plant you just have to buy it on face value on the day as it's not a motor with doc,s and sh to back up what the seller is saying Any way best of luck with the chipper
  10. Ant it a bit late to do all this now as you've bid & brought it ? This should of all been done before bidding
  11. 20 / 25 mpg on a run only about 15 around town there lovely trucks plenty of power but low geared bad for normal driving but for towing that's good

    Hiab Trailer

Just see this on eBay IFOR WILLIAMS 14ft TRI-AXLE HIAB CRANE TRAILER | eBay
  15. That's there firm, I just had s look at there 6x6 conversion and it seems the middle axle drives the rear axel from above ? The 6x6 cherry picker I looked at seemed to get drive straght tro the middle axel !! Wonder how they did on the 8x8 defender ?
  16. The old plastic drink bottle worked before so it,ll work again !! Me & my mates used to carry petrol in coke bottles on us when we used to race 2 strokes in the Weston Beach Race worked a treat,
  17. That blue IVECO is one nice truck
  18. There was a firm in essex that convert defenders to 6x6 & quoted about £5000 for the middle drive tro axel lol this has 2 of them !!
  19. Dread to think how much it is !! I was going to get a 6x6 150 cherrypicker a few years back but it was so long and turning circle was terrible its was so much work shunting it about etc so got a 110 instead !! That disco is a bit over the top lol, if the front comes round wile wheel spinning up them tracks that will roll for sure !!
  20. I don't bother with them tonne bags there agg iv been useing IBC water container,s with the top cut off there easy to move about as there on a pallet, All you need is a pallet truck to get them from truck to customers garden, I use a transit with a tail lift ( easy to buy & fit to any tipper ) or my recovery truck I just side them down ramps Hope this helps
  21. Have you thought about buying a landcruiser amazon and converting it to a truck cab ? It's 3260kg as standard , I'd also exstend the chassis by 12" to allow an 8ft chip box !! That would make a lovely 4x4 tipper with a 3.5 tonne tow limit, It's something I'm planing to do to my cruiser one day !!
