  1. Probably not as there rare as rocking horse s**t, but some do come up with the 3.2 5 pot 200 hp lump very nice
  2. I'd leave it till the summer to save ruining the grass, Iv got a couple of elete major shreggers that I'd use to shred every thing on site then use hire one of them small dumpers to cart every thing out I'd also look if any nighbours gardens has better access, Iv been known to bung a neighbour few houndred to use there garden Job dont seem that bad to me,
  3. Why don't you just refurb an old defender ? Galv chassis, new suspension, wheel, paint, pick an engine n gear box of your choice spurse the interior up and you could even wack ARB,s in it job done you've built a truck exact the way you want it !! Or just plonk a defender cab on a LC 80 series chassis ?
  4. One of my guys splits and bags my wood for me down my yard he has a big Hydrolic log splitter But at home he has one of these fast splitters in case he runs out of logs It's fast simple and quite, it's ideal for splitting wood at home but you wouldn't use it commercially and I don't think there aimed at that market any way There's no way he would get away with using a diesel powered splitter in his back garden with out up setting his neighbors So for the domestic log berner owner there ideal
  5. There's no trouble getting parts for the bmw lump as there as common as muck in the 5 series and my pal is a BM beaker but there good for 250 + k it just seems such a cheep powerful engine to drop in, If I was going to keep the LR engine I'd probably put a vairible vain turbo on it as that really livens things up a bit As for the landcruiser ute the later ones are fitted with V8 twin turbo diesel or you could go for an older one with V8 petrol and fit LPG
  6. i like the landcruiser utes but I don't think I'd bother with one here, but when I finally make the move to Oz I'll get one in a hart beat there just a good tuff truck Getting back to mainstream trucks Iv just picked a LR 110 HCPU up and planning on putting a bmw six pot 3.0 twin turbo diesel in it that's 270 bhp and with a re map gets an extra 70 so that's an impressive 340 bhp
  7. STIHL one that was given out F.O.C in a goodie bag from Doe,s
  8. Iv got a Dodge Ram dually and a 34ft 5th wheel American caravan with electric brake system, as it's s caravan it's allowed in UK but as far as I know your not allowed to tow goose neck flat beds car transporter etc in the uk It still boils down to the same old same old that your limited with a "run of the mill pick up & trailer !! All the agg of these brake systems, you'll need s tacho in to tow motor any way so why not just get a mog or lorry that can do the job IM0 pick up,s ant much good for towing heavy loads and normally end up. Ring dragged off the road by there trailer as there too light to handle the weight unless you go the agg of loading the bed up with half a tonne of ballets Only mainstream motor that will do your job is a landcruier amazon my old one 4.7 V8 on LPG bundles of power and no agg maybe you could turn one in a truck I did consider doing this to my old one but the Dodge Ram when needed gets the job done
  9. You don't need s pick up truck you need a unimog !! Personally I couldn't think of any thing more depressing then towing up hill n down dale all day everyday in a poor little underpowered pick up it's clearly a struggle The only pick up for you is a yank if you don't want a mog
  10. You might as well cover your truck with STIHL stickers just to finish off nicely
  11. Not one of your finest moments
  12. Iv just brought a 300 tdi hi cap myself like said already they can have a few issues but look how old they are mines 1997 P reg 20 years old seems mad to be buying such an old truck for work but, plan is leave the truckman top on as it's also doubles up as roof rack and convert it to a tipper and use it my off the Beaton track jobs
  13. I thought he ment sos !! I don't run to Jonathan,s yard i very rarely go further then 5 miles away from home but I think his got a weigh bridge
  14. Of corse thay charge, but there local and convenient you in SOS and his 10 min down the Rd !! Lovedown is 30 min on a good day and his a score s load ?
  15. Sounds like the seals have gone, any Hydrolics Place can sort that easy
  16. I use a big plus size phone, yer the a bit big for pockets but now iv got used to it I could never go back to small screen again so sort of made a rod for my own back
  17. Tree Fella,s yard is closest to you in Southend his at Stuart's Yard Shoebuery
  18. Every now n then your going to come across arse holes, and I deal with each one different depending on how they act, Last bloke come out flapping his arms and screeming about the dust on his motor " I just said WOW UP what's the problem ? Then I told him I work an Irish Travler who's on his way down to site, but don't start all that screeming and trying to fly game you'll end up getting a wack mate, Why don't I send a young lad out with a blower and sort it out ? Bloke ended up saying thanks to me for saving him a good hiding Definitely wouldn't recommend trying to bing em a score.
  19. This was the last sheet I got
  20. If you go to a lorry breaker you,ll get all the GRP you want, I normally bung them drink "£50" there pleased to get rid of it as it costs them as there only interested in the power packs and axels from the lorrys

    New Tipper

Lovely Truck, Have you thought about sliding the body forward to butt it up to the hiab and bolting the tool boxes to the chassis ? Only reason I mentioned is because it looks like too much over hang and your back axel will be grossly over loaded "when trucks loaded" and the front brakes won't be much cop Also as said time & time again "all 3.5 tonners" are overloaded but if you "don't stand out" your a lot less likely to get pulled Yes I run 3.5 but I run at night and I'm sure vosa are safely tucked up in bed in the small hours Any way good luck with your brand new truck mate
  22. Spoke to mate, and the merc,s are liked the 4WD system is good but would be better on mud with better tyres, take the weight well and apart from being a bit higher they are the same as the run of the mill vans and not noticeably different from the normal vans on diesel but bear in mind there V6 turbos diesels so average 25 mpg give or take Hope this helps
  23. A friend of mine works for the electronic board and they use the merc 4x4 vans so I'll ask him for you He did tell me the boys are happier with the Hilux cherry pickers over the defenders resonantly and was going to mention the merc 4x4 panel vans as I like the look of them If there select 4WD they shouldn't be to far away from the normal vans
