Just thought it would be nice if people who have new body's made to share there views, customer servies, prices, & locations I myself am about to start searching for a body builder I'm based in Essex but would travel for the right service I'd be more then happy to share info & prices & photos etc in the hope it could help others I'm happy with my transit set up but it's time to upgrade so to speak I'm still going to have a full hight tool box locker & tail lift as this combo suits me well but I'll be changing from steel to alloy ( except on tool box ) ...... look forward to seeing what you've got & who you used

  4. Good option, but if the customer wants them gone then it's a shame to turn money down, the OP needs to get the stumps gone and make a few quid on top I don't see this as a problem I see this as an earner
  5. Iv never seen or heard of any big grinders for hire without oparator, only the little toy town ones from hire shops, you'd be there for days working hard
  6. The price you've been quoted is strong, get more quotes or bring someone in on the job who has the plant, it don't need to be a tracked grinder but to make light work of it and get the job done it needs to be min 20hp
  7. 80 stumps ??? Turfer, mini diggers, hand tools, !!! Times money get a stump grinder in and grind em, job done in a day with one opp if site needs to clean you've only got one truck load of shavings Start digging or pulling them out you'll have 4 truck loads of crap to despose off
  8. With a longer wheel base the front axle helps take some of the strain so makes sense

Yes, the truck also has a fold out tail lift that doubles up as security for the chipper, I just lower tail lift on to the neck of the chipper and isolate it, so when your in a back garden you've got peace of mind Iv run a double cab before but don't think I would again as when there loaded all the waight is on the back axle at lest with a single cab the front axle takes some of the waight Every one running 3.5 tonners are over waight but the crew cabs suffer more
  11. If it's transit, unless your planing on carrying over 2 passengers about, single cab with box behind cab works well for me, much more Secure plus the tipper body has 10mm steel plates that slide over & protect tool box doors

It's good to read all comments see how other people operate, Before we start work I like to get the site set up, stuff moved out of the way, stuff protected, fence panels removed, gates removed, etc I see this as the 1st step ov preventing any potential accidents Also I like to dedicate jobs to people, so one guy is operating the chipper and that's his only job that way the chippers not revving it's nuts off when there's nothing to chip it's his job his on top of it diesel oil blades grease etc This system works for me as every opp has a set job witch means they each get a blow in between busy runs witch also means more focus on the job in hand At the end of the day I'm sure we all want the same things A good job done Working safe Earning a few quid Probably the most common corse of accidents are when working under pressure so I try to avoid that like the plague by allowing enuff time and staff for each job I win. 9 jobs out of 10 and I'm not the cheepset to win the work I'd like to think fair

Sounds like your up against it, and in need of a yardman to run your yard My meatherd works well for me, someone needs to be in charge that's my team is a good team but you'll be surprised how much more efficiently a job can run when you take a step back and watch to see what's going on It's hard to keep an eye on every one and every thing if your busy yourself
  14. 100% bag on the money Bob Yes some one needs to be in charge "supervising" watching every thing that's going on Communication Is vital every one needs to know what's going on who's doing what "site briefing" And we like to have spare climbing kit & 1st Aid kits on site where there needed along with site signs, barriers Also house keeping is very important keep the site clean & tidy removes tripping hazards and stops climbing rope going tro chippers wile still attached to climbers good team, team work, work safely, go home at the end of day
  15. Your "mate" should nip round there and take that down for ya foc on his way to or from a paying job not Rip your your Ma off, glad his not my mate..... I think I'd have to drive up there & do the job out of principal !!

Have you tried watching other climbers ( pick good ones ) and see if you can pick up some tips, monkey see monkey do etc Some people pick things up quick some people not so quick, some of the best climbers I know are self Taught and ant got any tickets at all Sounds to me like you just need to get a few more hours under your belt

Headlight,s we use as we work nights a lot are Hope R8 there about £250 & worth every penny the battery's last and there's a long cable so you can keep the battery in your pocket if any thing brakes on the light or battery it gets replaced FOC like snap on tools There used mainly for mountain or road bikers & joggers etc so built tuff But you could also just nip down to screw fix & buy a couple of site light tripods and some LED battery flood lights We also use these on site there very good and illuminate the work site very well total cost per rig is £75 we use 2 rigs to keep H&S happy

  19. All my work shirts fleeces & coats are orange hi viz, I think the hi viz gives out a professional look And pull up in a clean & tidy van
  20. Them towable diggers look like a lot of agg, have you thought about a digger arm on a bobcat ?

The Kinetic splitters are more for the home owner doing a few logs at home, for commercially Splitting you need something more heavy duty, it's all down to time & money really hydraulic splitters are slow but strong, it all different shapes n sizes I use an old wood processor called a Stanley Logger it's PTO driver and fast compared to some splitters Iv seen It's got a guillotine and a long stroke Ram so it's an all in one Machine

Bob this truck is amazing in the mud fully loaded or empty, I done a big job on my neighbours farm and what this truck was coping with surprised everyone and we do off roading for a hobby The Iveco is in a cue awaiting a make over new shape cab, Joan & 3 way tipper body at some point this year
