  1. Aldi are selling paddling pools, though it would be good way to store water for the veg garden, connected up to the water butts overflow.... https://www.aldi.co.uk/intex-12-foot-metal-swimming-pool/p/082746231914400 7000 litres of water storage for £90.
  2. Could you also parcel up and resell as smaller lots & make a load of money that way?
  3. Alot of wildfires in different countries all over europe, some of the worst ever recorded covering huge areas. 30,000 hectares in Sweden. https://www.smh.com.au/world/europe/europe-burns-as-climate-change-fuels-forest-fire-danger-extremes-20180725-p4zteh.html Probably going to get more common with climate change.
  4. But standing deadwood its good habitat. ?
  5. How come its not got Dutch elm disease?
  6. How about thoose US aspen grooves that cover 100 acres.
  7. Never heard a hinge called a "ducks bill"
  8. Seems a big difference between the cheapo husky battery 120i & the expensive 536Li battery one. Chain speed is twice as fast on the expensive one, so does it cut twice the speed? Must have a more powerful electric motor in it hence why it costs over double the price. Weight is lighter also
  9. No point imo underplanting new trees under shade from sycamore, unless a decent size clearing is made as they won't grow well. Never seen a hazel or hawthorn surrounded in centre of a wood by other taller trees than didn't look half dead as they are out completed for light. Hazel all locally grow in woods that are ususally a monculture 80% hazel maybe with a few larger "standard" trees dotted about not mixed in surrounded with taller trees. Im no expert though but have seen alot of money wasted imo on planting schemes were 100's of trees are planted in shade of larger trees and majority just die or never grow. Also even when a wood is full of natural regen why do they insist on planting new trees with plastic guards. (Different maybe if you have deer etc & no natural regen) Imo best would be just maybe too thin the sycamore & selectively weed out sycamore regen (leaving any regen form other species) to stop them spreading more. If you did clear sycmore & replant with other species would the stumps need to be poisoned or removed (expensive), as if not removed they would out grow and shade out, the new trees planted (or I suppose you could keep cutting them back repeatedly)
  10. I thought you were joking about the leaf blower ticket... https://www.nptc.org.uk/assets/documents/8da36e6b6ba3489298780e1d93aa3453.pdf Madness haha Better stick to a rake until its mastered thouh rakes can be dangerous ?
  11. Zip line with plastic trug for logs? Petzl Tandem Double Pulley
  12. Great pics looked up about Hap Johnson & this pic came up ? Is that a hydraulic saw?
  13. Some info: http://www.oregonproducts.eu/site/products/biotrim/Biotrim_flyer_en.pdf So is turns to compost or microplastics im still unsure? EDIT> actually says its eaten by mircoorganisms Some of the "eco" tree shelters just have less UV stabalizer in them so break up faster sounds worse than non eco ones imo...
  14. Intetrested what you will you use it for? Transporting 1000 tonnes of brash is going to be a bit of a hassle, will be massive volume........
  15. Alot of Silver birch going brown here in north Wales. Also seen several mature beech completely brown. alot of dead ash tops due to ash die back also. Also many newly planted trees are dying/dead. Will drought have long term impact on some of the the trees or can they recover?
  16. Reminds me of that youtube video was posted on here of that guy that looked like harrison ford that dismantles a big tree with hardly any equipment & with a weird home made remote controlled chainsaw rig.

Interesting comparison between 2 stroke 4 stroke engines: https://opereviews.com/landscaping/string-trimmers/makita-em2650lh-4-stroke-string-trimmer/
  18. Im tempted with a cordless pole saw: https://hyundaipowerequipment.co.uk/hyundai-hyps36li-36v-battery-powered-pole-saw-hyps36li-1/ I already have the wolfgarten one. Decent branded ones like echo or sthil are over £600 for petrol or cordless etc.
  19. This one? https://www.lidl.de/de/florabest-benzin-kombigeraet-fbk-4-b2/p248629?fromRecommendation=true&scenario=top_selling
  20. Echo USA saw looks pretty decent shame not in UK. https://www.homedepot.com/p/ECHO-16-in-58-Volt-Brushless-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-Chainsaw-4-0-Ah-Battery-and-Charger-Included-CCS-58V4AH/205566014
  21. I'd say if you have to buy wood its as expensive than the alternatives, & even if you get free wood there stil the cost/time of processing it etc. Also price of wood will probably keep on rising as demand is high & linked to othere costs such as petrol, & after ash die back even less trees around....... Good insulation is the sensible thing to do if you can manage it so you don't need to burn loads of wood to keep warm.
