  1. Because marketing BS is more important the product., and customer can boast about there specially imported crates of latvian kiln dried wood at dinner party. ?
  2. Any decent ones that have a grippy palm? The leather palm gets get really slippy especially in wet, then like already mentioned they just fall apart after a few weeks anyway. Suppose in an ideal world could charge enough too afford to get new gloves everyweek & run aspen etc Anyone use arm sleeves when doing blackthorn berberis etc was thinking of trying some, might stop arms getting wrecked by thorns.
  3. No idea but the local firewood merchants get it delivered.
  4. My makita corded electric 2kw outcuts the smaller homeowner 2 stroke huskys & stihls but I only use it for firewood , but it would do the tree in picture no problem.
  5. I just thought 150cc would just cut 3 times as fast with all the extra power I have a bump head which takes a load of line, so line lasts for hrs & hrs if cutting grass. Get though around 6 tanks of fuel in 6hrs running & only need to replaced line spool say on average once in whole day which takes about 3 minutes. Carry several precut lengths of line of different thickness etc. For brambles get though alot more line say one length per tank of fuel.
  6. Hmm doesn't look any faster than normal strimmer? I thought you would be able to just walk along behind @ a decent pace going forward (like a lawn mower) not back & foward on each tussock. Whats made my stimmer alot faster is plastic guard fell off so grass doesn't clog behind it at all & I can run a longer cord taking out a wider strip with each ark. Downside get covered in more crap.
  7. Good point about gas being unsustainable but wood is also if you think of the fossil fuels used in harvesting transport etc, & the lack of tree planting in UK & large biomass demand means there is going to be wood shortages. Agree with point 2 & 3 also. Its a hard thing to regulate right but some kind of regulation is comming to try & improve air quality. I suppose the real sensible regulation would be a massive national project & subsidies to retrofit buildings with insulation (preferable eco & recycleable insulation) , & make all new buildings above passive house standard.
  8. Reason: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/feb/01/pollutionwatch-wood-burning-worsening-uk-air-quality If on mains gas for the majority of people why do you need to burn wood apart from the stove look pretty or be trendy. Peoples health shouldn't be damages so someone can have a fire as a fashion Lifestyle Accessory
  9. Have your seen theese: wood stove catalytic converter http://www.woodstovecombustors.com/How_They_Work.html Seem to be a thing in the USA but not UK
  10. I think they should be banned/restricted in cities if the house is on a mains gas supply.
  11. Worst thing iv'e used for vibes is karcher pressure washers. That Kawasaki Petrol looks good 2.0kw @ 6kg http://store.cobragarden.co.uk/brushcutters/cobra-bc530k-petrol-powered-53cc-bike-handle-brushcutter.html alot ligther than stihl of same power? 6kg seems really light I dontt like the FS 460 much as so heavy to use doinh a full day strimming
  12. See leylandi like the everywhere seems standard practice to hack em back like that.
  13. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/apr/29/millions-of-trees-at-risk-in-secretive-network-rail-felling-programme No more leaves on the tracks?
  14. Found this: https://www.worldofpower.co.uk/makita-rbc414u-40-2cc-petrol-brushcutter-bull-handle.html
  15. Anyone tried the new MM4 makitas? 4 strokes seem heavier for less power.... I have a old 2 stroke makita rbc3101 & its the best strimmer iv'e used prefer it compared to similar sized hondas & stihl iv'e also used. Will go though smaller diameter brambles with the bump head line but not old growth or blackthorn or gorse.
  16. Iv'e being watching the 100 & wondering how come everyone in the future is so good looking.
  17. Versialles has plenty of tourists without royals.
  18. I have this one. Cutting 40mm branch like the info says though is abitr optimistic I reckon more like 25mm in reality
  19. I hate thoose franchise companies that do this they charge the homeownwe £50 a month etc for less than 10 minutes work spraying the lawn. I like moss & daisys in lawns rather than monoculture unnatural looking grass.
  20. Sounds wrong to prune so severe twice, Over prunning equals mass of water shoots very common
  21. This guy was just in the news: https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/uk/tree-surgeon-convicted-of-shooting-murder-after-trying-to-pin-blame-on-his-son-36874178.html
