  4. Noticed alot of random "sycamore dieback" this year in different locations Dead crowns or early leave drop whislt other trees close by are still 100% healthy green leaves Wonder if it was something to do with the drought last yr as many sycamores are up on raised cloddiau

  10. Trouble is majority of the rest of the population is heading in the opposite direction to the extreme especially in UK: Fast fashion: Britons to buy 50m 'throwaway outfits' this summer | Fashion | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Survey finds holiday clothing is biggest extravagance, with consumers set to spend £700m
  11. Saw mill at the local agri college:
  12. Looks like two different trees between first & second picture? Not a sucker from rootstock is it?
  13. Maybe on the verge of reaching alot of potential limits to pop growth: Climate change Fossil fuel depletion Fosil water aquifer depletion Soil loss Eco system collapse - mass species extinction Also: Phosphate fertiliser 'crisis' threatens world food supply | Environment | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Use of essential rock phosphate has soared, but scientists fear it could run out within a few decades Hard to predict to timescales though.... U.N predictions for pop growth. Projections of population growth - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG Interesting that the mercator map projection shrinks africa were most of this growth will be so people don't realize how big its land area is.
  14. Always wondered why I see so many apple trees looking similar to that in gardens. Often in gardens done by "grounds maintenance comapny" Done a few prunning jobs on apple trees and often told by the customer iv'e not done it right as it doesn't look more like the tree on watchdog as they now think thats how a tree shoud look. Some would prefer if you just did massacre the tree like that to "make it look tidy" Kind of put be off doing apple trees as customers often then says "but you haven't taken enought off". Try and explain about over prunning and water shoots & 1/3 rule etc and the eyes glaze over as there not interested. Also im no obviuosly not charging enough as done a whole orchards of dozens of trees in a day for less than half £300 If charged £300 a tree would be £3600 plus job.... Or even i'd try and charged 10% of that rate customer would never pay me £360 for prunning apples trees for a day.
  15. How about jump cuts? Jump cuts | The BuzzBoard WWW.TREEBUZZ.COM What is the best way to get the cut end of a tree to, as it lays flat, "jump forward off the stump with the most distance"...
  16. The second I think They do a backpack also ? https://cpc.farnell.com/makita/bl36120a/36v-battery-back-pack-built-in/dp/TL19594?mckv=sMsrSed6C_dc|pcrid|224680288544|kword||match||plid||slid||product|TL19594|pgrid|48556615353|ptaid|pla-371191364796|&CMP=KNC-GUK-CPC-SHOPPING&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-4zk5tXO5AIVgrTtCh0gvAuVEAYYASABEgK81vD_BwE Seems abit pointless lugging a 6kg backpack around when swapping batterries over only takes a few seconds unles you want to look like a ghostbuster ?
  17. Do watchdog they get all the cash handed over back off them somehow at the end? I only saw the start of program & not really watched watchdog before.
  18. Dux60 is £151 here: Makita DUX60Z buy at Passiontec WWW.PASSIONTEC.CO.UK Makita DUX60Z at Passiontec ✓ Low Prices ✓ Fast Shipping ✓ Flexible Payment ✓ Reliable Service | Buy online now at... Electric motors offer better torque i think than similar sized petrol eqivalent Makita do 6ah battery so could have 12ah total but the 5ah ones arer alot cheaper than the 6ah. Im guessing from a try using a sthil battey trimmer: HLA85 (unsure of size of motor in this as not in spec?) the makita cordless version may be about as powerful as a 900w KM94 but not as powerful as the more powerful combi stihls engines in range. I have the short reach duh601z trimmer and its very good. Don't know about long term durability yet though compared to petrol.
  19. I reckon leave it just do a better job next time You will appreciate why its best to do all the sides as much as possible (without cutting into bare wood) when you come across a previously topped a 5m wide hedge with a hollow bit in middle of dead sticks where it hasn't regrown Thats how they seem often too end up ? By cutting alot of the top but not sides this is kind of what you may have created. In an ideal world leylandi woulds be trimmed regular or not at all or not planted in first place as other hegding can grown from dead wood
