  1. I thought Birch burr.
  2. Electrolux has owned Husqvarna since late 1970s. Tanaka and Komatsu Zenoah would be alternatives although Electrolux also acquired Zenoah in 2007. I like the thought of Makita and Dolmar, they look compact and well built and spares are available. I have a heavy old Dynamac (Efco) DY41 which is very solidly made.
  3. Hmmm, that's a keeper What game were you playing there billy ? Tree surgeons and groundies, your version of doctors and nurses.
  4. Hear hear, stop putting money in Simon Cowell's pocket and get this "talent show" crap off the telly. These people think they really matter, Redcoats at Butlins were doing this years ago for peanuts and idiots like Cowell and his judges are making millions off it. Put youtube on and watch something useful
  5. Read up and get in there and have a go. I did some when I worked on school gardens about 40 years ago with a couple of blokes who knew what they were doing and I vaguely remember how to do it How long is the hedge and how long have you got to do it ? There are different styles of regional hedge laying and some look more complicated but if they just want the hedge lower and filling some gaps in you should cope.
  6. There was a thread on it in January wasn't there here it is.
  7. A bit here to start you off.
  8. My cousin had a single axle like that and he subbed to the Water Board clearing up after works and filling in holes with gravel hard core. He's retired now but he was packing up because they were really cutting the money to the bone and he was working ridiculous hours to keep the lorry on the road.
  9. I watched some lads working at a church and chipping branches into buckets or trugs with a machine like that then spreading it around the borders and hedge bottoms. It looked ideal for what they were doing.
  10. I'll see your rug and raise you an Axminster carpet
  11. Niece's husband did it, got in more scuffles and trouble with the police for assault charges from people who claimed to be bystanders.
  12. Or a retired foundry/factory worker with an old Berlingo and 4x3 trailer I'd be glad to supply a bottle of wine for a trailer of usable wood, my favoured tipple is red under £5 a bottle from Lidl as long as that is good enough. Danny is a bit far away from us though
  13. Me neither, or that they need to bid on the picture to contact the seller concerning the chipper.
  14. What beats me is how anyone could be dumb enough to bid on a digital copy of the photo when they can right click it and save Ebay will get their listing fee and a percentage of the end price so they don't give a hoot really they are laughing all the way to the bank.
  15. I know it's not for trees but a friend of mine bought a cheap tenon saw from B&Q and when he came to use it found it impossible to cut with. I tried and only reason I could think of was the blade was fitted back to front. It should theoretically have cut on the wrong stroke but you could not push it as it jammed straight away. It stayed as a curio in his shed to try on unsuspecting victims for years "just cut us an inch off that 2x1" then stand back and watch as they got more and more frustrated.
  16. You have to ask if there's a cafe handy and they say yes it's a couple of miles back that way instead of offering to put the kettle on.
  17. You have a removable end cap and the pusher can push them right through.
  18. Sounds like a trendy hairdresser
  19. That stack would have to stay, it looks like it should be listed Don't let that kno8 Kevin McCloud anywhere near the place please he is so annoying.
  20. Not with the name Truro and tree services in their heading though.
  21. Friend of mine doesn't need a dog, strange blokes come up to him and offer to sell him drugs wherever he goes. It must be the dreads, he looks the sort.

    Jokes???

She wasn't Robin's girlfriend she was the Sherwood bike, I hear you singing the next line now
  23. I've just googled Truro tree surgeons (their name) and your website comes up in Yell.com, it looks good and publicises your services well. I didn't see any other Truro named firm and if anyone sees them and doesn't get the number they will google and get you instead. Get ready for the extra work coming in.
  24. How much scrap could you get in that ? You could beat the totters into a cocked hat collecting even without greedy boards There's one comes up the road full of flattened bodyshells from the local breakers yard every few weeks using the hiab as a weight to keep them down in the bed.
  25. Have a look on youtube at briquette presses there are quite a few. Some kind of mincer arrangement might get the chip size down.
