  1. I thought mere cats were something to do with insurance It only pees me of that they crap in any bit of bare soil and see the bird feeder as a bait station for their entertainment. I rescued one from our Fox Terrier once as she had thrown it in the air and I caught it and all I got for my trouble was it crapped on me. I did once knock one out of the tree down the garden with a clothes prop as it was after our young Jenny Wrens that had just fledged and they don't always land on their feet. I do lots to discourage them as does my wife, putting stuff down that they don't like the smell of and netting all the beds so they can't get on them but when I had dogs it was my job to keep them in and under control and clean up after them and now it's my job to keep someone else's pets out and pay for the privilege. A friend of mine has cats which never leave the house, crap in a litter tray and are quite happy with their lot as long as they are warm and being fed so the "doing what comes naturally" b@ll@x doesn't count for anything,
  2. Not even from Jon ?
  3. I'm going to be controversial here and say the illustrated item is a machine screw being used as a bolt as it is threaded all the way up. Some applications state that washers should not be used like cylinder head bolts as they can alter torque readings but for non critical applications some say put the washer under the part that turns to prevent damage to the surface.. If I can find the washer I put it in and if I have lost it I leave it out
  4. Do they have internets in New Zealand ? You'll still be appearing I bet. Have a good time out there.
  5. It looks like someone made them an offer they couldn't refuse.
  6. Buy a mig if you will be doing thin sheet mostly. I have a Kemppi Minargmig 180, the newer ones are more than you are looking to spend but you could find equivalent machines and they will be easier to use.
  7. Mine's in my pocket. It's a scrench tool.
  8. 2010, it's not that old then
  9. You'll pick up a good arc inverter welder for probably half your £500 and most of them will run on a 13 amp supply and an extension lead if you are not using full power all the time. My friend has a Thermal Arc 175 se which cost £215 and it does a brilliant job. You don't need pluse or pulse but an arc welder is not the ideal tool for welding thin sheet. You will struggle on anything under 2mm.
  10. And I thought you were a nice person. You will when you come in and find the house full of flies like on Amityville You're thinking of rain beetles Mark, it always rains if you tread on one of them, usually because they come out when it rains
  11. A friend of mine has a steel fabricating firm and a 22 year old lad who was working for him was brought into work by his mum and she brought his lunch in and picked him up again at knock off every day.
  12. You never saw our Fox Terrier then. I caught next doors cat after she threw it in the air. If she had caught it on the way down it would have been an ex-cat. She just used to run in and grab whatever they tried to hit her with then shake it and up in the air it went.
  13. Brittle fracture is nothing to do with the temperature at any time of year, you'd have to be talking liquid nitrogen temperatures to affect a metal in that way it's to do with the grain size and ductility of the material used. I don't know a lot about metals either apart from how to weld them together and I don't know what Petxl is making them out of but it looks like the wrong stuff for the job.
  14. Is that what iron tablets do then
  15. Course he has, she's called mum
  16. To be honest we don't use the flattening thing either. We got the special board thing out the other day and neither of us could remember how it went up
  17. There's your solution then, next question ?
  18. It's got a wire on it, it's a power tool, like the iron
  19. A friend of mine had the same problem with his MS181. It went back 3 times and they kept saying there was no fault and there wasn't if you held the saw pointed at the ground and ran it but when you held it level and cut wood it didn't use any oil at all. They put a new pump in and it has been fine since.
  20. Brilliant idea, payday is now Monday
  21. One of my all time favourites, I watch bits of it all the time just for a laugh. There ought to be a Pappy O'Daniel flour hour programme, I'd listen to that.
  22. Yes and take it out on a lead if you want it to go outside. We had to net everything in our garden to stop the bl**dy things using it as a toilet and I had to stop feeding the birds as the cats think I am just attracting them for their entertainment. Cats can exist indoors with a litter tray, friends of mine had a couple of very expensive ones and they never went outside.
  23. Bloke at the factory where I worked used to fail every Thursday on days. When the gaffer asked him why he always missed Thursday he said, "I can change my day if you want". Another one was why do you only do 4 days. "Because I can't manage on 3"
  24. I start mine up and run it till warm then tip the fuel out and run it again on tick over till it stops. It takes a while but revving it the mixture goes weak as it runs out and may cause a problem.
