  1. There's a Tesco superstore within walking distance of our house but we still go 5 miles to Lidl in Alfreton to get our main tinned food and beer shop. A lot of the time it's just manic trying to find stuff and get round in Tesco and if I happen to call there in the car on the way back or to somewhere it's rubbish having to negotiate trolleys left all over the car park.
  2. I think it's not just tree work but a lot of industry sees apprentices as cheap subsidised labour. My grandson was at college on a joinery course and he is quite good with the tools. He finished the course and got an apprenticeship with a local firm but gave up disheartened after nearly two years as all he was doing was sweeping up and painting. College has refused to give the firm any more apprentices but he is now stuck for finishing his time.

    Stihl 029

I read somewhere that there is no age related data in Stihl serial numbers and the only way to find out is to contact the manufacturer. You can get a rough idea by looking at the time period when the saw was in production about 1993 to 1999 when the super came out according to best chainsaw guide.
  4. What's wrong with blue 3 ply poly rope ? (other colours are available) it's cheap and does the job. Wrap it round a branch for a bit of friction and you can lower offcuts quite reasonably. I know it's frowned upon but I can't see why (me not being a pro or climber of any description)
  5. I enjoyed the video and good on them both especially the sprinter for having a go at the pole, totally different ball game for him I suspect.
  6. I buy meat from the butcher, have a pint of milk a day delivered by a milkman and my wife bakes most of our bread. We buy a lot of our veg from the local greengrocer what we don't grow ourselves and I buy beer and a bottle of red wine from either Tesco or Lidl whichever is cheaper or handiest at the time. We used to use Aldi as well but you can't get near it now for Yuppies or whatever they are called now. I don't use Tesco fuel as there is always a queue to get in there and I never qualify for more than 2p off a litre anyway so I'd be queueing to save 40p, no thanks. We also shop at the Co-op as we like 99 loose leaf tea, proper stuff.
  7. Should be alright, police use Glocks don't they ?
  8. 10cc did a song about this called rubber bullets didn't they ?
  9. Friend of mine uses a MS181 for the same job.
  10. I'd have thought the price would be a lot higher than what you asked. Under the head's logic if the caretaker's kids go to a school he should work for next to nothing.
  11. Does it open the roof when you turn the key in the door ?
  12. I asked about something similar earlier, my niece has industrial machinery and was quite happy to see what she could do with a pair of chainsaw trousers. She goes to bike rallies and sews leathers and puts on patches with a generator powered machine. She does other sewing as well, an interesting commission was making a couple of cassocks for a local lady vicar.
  13. Grape vines were traditionally planted over a dead sheep with the roots outside a greenhouse and the main stem inside.
  14. Did you miss the bit where the log hit him on the head and knocked him out cold ?
  15. They did check his pulse If he was brain damaged they might not have noticed anyway.
  16. Your site's not working mr Indespension. jtablesession::Store Failed DB function failed with error number 1062 Duplicate entry '1-' for key 'whosonline' SQL=INSERT INTO `jos_session` ( `session_id`,`time`,`username`,`gid`,`guest`,`client_id` ) VALUES ( 'dkgb7bbadd5m26kigi3asci991','1411230967','','0','1','0' )
  17. It's not showing on the insured database so it's definitely dodgy
  18. If Stihl owns Zama doesn't it make obvious economic sense to use them on their saws ?
  19. I have a little Trangia kettle that would be perfect for a Jetboil or Coleman dual fuel stove. It just about holds a mugful.
  20. That's b0ll0x that is
  21. Watch out for viscous coupling problems, there's a whole industry sprung up around them.
  22. Calor gas single ring burner £20 on ebid. A friend of mine is a jointer and they use it to melt solder as well.
  23. That's all his golf safety gear

    Stihl 039 carb

It's always worth doing a bit of preventative maintenance rather than having it to do after you've put everything back together in my opinion for what it costs.
