  1. I use the Mitox 281 multi tool & it's ok as long as you know they are not for pro use. I only bought it as it was only £150 & still had a years warranty left on it. Earned that back on it's first job & that was 6 months ago. They are prone to the fuel lines splitting, & the quality is nowhere near the pro stuff yet but they are moving that way. I would spend the extra if you are using it everyday.
  2. Buy your neighbours ear defenders:) But seriously, make sure you can legally use the land for your business purposes. A timber yard is a little different to a small holding.
  3. 41 tomorrow.

    movano

I had a single wheel base for around 2 years & was a good truck until recently, when it started to just cut out randomly which is extremely dangerous. They use Renault engines which are prone to electrical & sensor faults & also have a habit of destroying the in tank fuel pump & sending metal fragments through the fuel system which is a costly repair. Vauxhall have no interest in solving these faults & should have done a recall. My advice would be to get rid, Vauxhall have basically made a commercial vehicle out of car parts hence why they are cheaper than the alternatives. Vauxhall technicians have very little knowledge of the Renault engines in the Movano.
  5. Didn't realise it was a mog.
  6. You could always increase the distance between the truck & chipper therefore decreasing the amount of chip that blows out.
  7. Completely agree. A job is only worth what the customer is willing to pay for it. Get several quotes from any other trade for the same job & they will differ greatly, so why should our industry be any different.
  8. Always good to offer extra services to customers plus it's another revenue stream. As for which stumpy to go for depends on how you will be transporting it (& budget), if most of your work is domestic then you need a machine which will fit through gates, doorways & on occasions through a house. The more powerful, the more productive. I use a small machine which I can lift in & out of my truck & has suited my needs perfectly, but takes a little longer to grind than the next size machine.

    Dream houses

We are lucky enough to own our dream home, a modest three bedroom cottage that used to be a cow milking shed & dates back to the 1700's. These large ostentatious houses which shout I have considerably more money than you, do nothing for me. An old traditional style cottage will always look tired & lived in which adds character where modern style homes will need updating in ten years time.
  10. Could try one of these. If you can find one.
  11. Had this happen to me once. Used a dremel to cut a slot & unscrewed it with a screw driver. I now replace the bolts at every blade change, save a lot of grief.
  12. Depends where you are but Dartford Motors hire out transit tippers.
  13. Some years ago now there was a farmer in the US who got his arm ripped off in a thresher & drove a hundred odd miles to hospital to get it sewn back on.
  14. Hello Rich, hope your well, nice vid as always. Looks like a smooth job. So much easier when you rig down large lumps. I had my first experience of using a hobbs block on thursday, took a few lumps to get into it as slightly different to an RC.
  15. If they are stones still attached to the branches I would say its an Apricot.
  16. I suffer with dry hands all year round & have tried everything, then I came across cracked heel cream, so I gave it a go. Works better than any hand cream, heals the split fingers in a couple days.
  17. Hello Tucky, I have a Vauxhall Movano 3.5t, with full service history, 68000 miles, new discs & pads all round last year, large fully enclosed lockable steel chip box, white cab red chip box. It's a 2005 plate, I know your budget is 2 grand, I would be looking at around 3.5 grand, might be worth stretching for a low milage vehicle.
  18. We have now put a lock on the front gate & a bell so there is no access for deliveries or cold callers etc. My dogs have the right to play & enjoy the garden. It would only take some donut to misread excited dogs for aggressive dogs & before you no it the old bill are at your door with a seizure notice. So now no one enters unless I let them in. Another law to make it more difficult to protect your property.
  19. Diverisify.
  20. There is only one dangerous breed - humans.
  21. I'm in East Sussex & the Ash on one side of my garden are nearly in full leaf but the neighbours opposite seem to be struggling. Last year they were in full leaf before the Oaks in my garden but not this year. A bit worrying really.
  22. https://www.nawt.org.uk/advice/changes-dangerous-dogs-act-advice-owners I thought I would post this link for all the arb dog owners. Really worth knowing the law as dog owners.
  23. Walk away. I've worked on three in the past, & never ever again no matter how broke I am unless its a fell.
  24. I use the wife's face wipes she uses for taking her make up off. Works really well when your hands & arms are covered in resin aswell.

    The Dogs!

We feed our three raw meat & veg, they are healthier, solid & smaller dog eggs which means they metabolise the food better than the processed rubbish that floods the market. It is not for every dog though, some cannot tolerate raw meat.
