  1. For me its a false economy so for me it is true.
  2. Pc's have their place I agree, & as you work for Dell then no doubt your knowledge of pc's is far superior than most. For me its not whether it looks nice, it needs to be up to the job as it is a work tool. What put me off pc's was after three weeks of owning a very expensive hp it got compromised, bearing in mind it was purchased solely for work purposes, accounts, spread sheets, that sort of thing, so was with an engineer for two weeks. Its a false economy to buy a pc for general use as it will at some point get a virus or hacked unless like yourself you know the in & outs. Five years of using a mac & never had a problem. You get what you pay for.
  3. I had a look when I quoted, & there is no extra cable, thankfully the lines are under their own tension & not resting on any branches.
  4. To the op, take the handle assembly apart, the throttle trigger is one moulded piece with two circular bits that fit into the handle housing, for some reason they become stiff, lightly sand the circular bits & put a little grease on them & then refit, that should sort it.
  5. If we do break a line at least my climbers father in law is retired BT engineer. Your comments have made me smile today, thanks gents.
  6. Mac all day long, for what it is going to cost in pc repairs as they are so easy to hack & get viruses, it's worth paying the extra.
  7. This made me chuckle. I'm a pro user & the first saw I go to to sned is my little MS170, I've had it since 2007 new, never needed a part except service parts & it gets used everyday. Sorry if its a bit off topic.
  8. The line runs from the pole outside the neighbours house to my clients. Just have to be careful, although I stated that we would not be paying if we damage the lines & the customer is fine with that. We've done lots of work with lines involved & never had a problem.
  9. Thanks for the advice Treequip, I was on Openreach website last night reading about easements but it must of bored me as I fell asleep. I think its outrageous that try to charge.
  10. Morning people, I just thought I would share my latest experience dealing with Openreach. I have a mature Sycamore removal coming up due to ganoderma & located in the front garden road side with the tree owners & neighbours telephone lines running through the centre of the crown. I contact Openreach to discuss a temporary disconnection & told that it would cost £200 for an engineer to disconnect. I pointed out that the tree was there before the property was built which was in the sixties & that BT ran the lines through the tree in the first place but it fell on deaf ears. The job is doable with the lines there but easier without. Personally I find it incredible that large companies can charge for something they put in place. What are other peoples experience of these types of situations.

    Meindl boots

I've had two pairs that have done the same, last pair about 10 months old, so got in touch with Meindl, they want me to send them to them & hopefully get a refund. Let you know how I get on. I'm on my forth pair now as they are so comfy to wear.
  12. Thanks for the heads up on another scam, we can only undertake a certain amount of due diligence on customers, and it is exactly the same for customers when choosing a contractor to undertake work for them. There seems a lot of threads on here recently where arguments are becoming quite common. It is the season of goodwill so chill out, people & enjoy the festive season.
  13. Hello Jon, it's a 2008, it will have a little workout over the weekend & next week, then the week after I have a large sycamore to dismantle so a proper workout for it.
  14. It was cheap Jon, it dosen't look like it's hardly been worked.
  15. That's the one, on the ad it stated it may have as they couldn't find the serial number, had it working today, fired on the second pull, no smoke or unusual noises, I may have been lucky.
  16. I picked up a MS660 the other day for £400 with a new bar, chain & cover from a well known auction site on a buy it now. Looks like it's hardly been used & runs sweet.
  17. Get your el with your pl then your arse is covered, no grey area.
  18. I broke my silky scabbard today after purchasing just saw. It niggled me at the time but after reading all of yours, I'm good.
  19. My favourite is the stihlvarna, or the mccullochita.
  20. The best chainsaw is an elusive creature, some say they have seen it in the woods, the forest or even hiding in trees, but these sightings are yet to be confirmed.
  21. That is a beautiful piece. Nice work.
  22. I know how you feel, had a groundy do the same once, so I gave him his wages minus the cost of a new arch. I don't let anyone operate my 125 now apart from me as I got sick of so called experienced people trying feed too much through at a time, its a small machine not a whole tree chipper.
  23. I used to only undertake trees & hedges but had so many customers ask if I could manage their gardens it seemed wrong to turn it down so I know manage two 14 acre estates & one 4 acre doing the grounds maintenance & several small gardens along side the tree work.
  24. Over the years I have built up a book of all different tradesman, they pass me work, I do the same, some very lucrative jobs on both sides, myself or the trades I know would not expect a fee for passing a lead to a job. I always offer a % as I'm polite like that & it is always declined & likewise.
