  1. Yeah, not the brightest thing to post Gnome on a forum where there are a lot of dog owners. Hate is such a strong word, but you are entitled to like or dislike as you please but to post this when someone's dogs have died as a result is a little insensitive. Maybe you could show that you do have a small amount of compassion & post an apology.
  2. These are sick & twisted individuals & unfortunately there is not a lot that can be done unless they are caught in the act. My thoughts go out to your friends.
  3. We've had similar in Sussex where someone put rat poison in mini sausages & left a trail of them on a popular dog walk. I heard of another report in Folkestone, Kent during the summer, someone had poisoned a dogs water bowl that a shop put out for passing thirsty dogs. A friend of ours lost one of her dogs to poisoning this year.
  4. Take all the Land Rover green ovals off & lettering, fit quad headlamps & re badge with Santana Ps10 decals. No one will touch it.😀
  5. You could try speaking to one of the Rangers for Wimbledon & Putney Common. They used to take wood chip for the horse trails & logs to sell. I don't have the number but easy to find on line. Another place you could try is Mortlake Cemetary, again they used to take chip but it's been a few years since I worked in London. There is a waste transfer station in Battersea that might take it but you will be weighed in & will cost.
  6. For your budget, I would go for the Record Power disc sander. It can be mounted on a bench & has a reasonable size disc.
  7. I moved a few years ago & up until last year was servicing customers where I used to live 50 - 70 miles away but realised my time was more important than coin. I rarely travel more than 20 miles for a job now.
  8. Match fishing when I can be arsed, I suppose the dogs could be classed as a hobby as they take up a fair amount of my spare time. I do a little bit of lathe work & carving. Just bought a mtb so looking to do some riding. Now don't laugh but I have just got into adult colouring books, I have found it is very relaxing.
  9. My favourite has to be my little MS170. Purchased from new in 2006, it can sit on the shelf for months without being used then fire up on the third pull. Still has the original bar, sprocket etc, the only thing that has broken was the chain brake band. Not bad for a hobby saw.
  10. I too have recently been suffering with pins & needles & numbness in both hands of a night time Turns out I have an under active thyroid, within a week of taking levothyroxine, my symptoms have considerably reduced. Get yourself to your docs as it may be a number of causes, that are easily treatable.
  11. Firstly if your tree has been pruned without your consent past the boundary then this is criminal damage, so in the first instance contact your local police constabulary to report it, now it will be on an authority database. Secondly contact the housing association to again report it stating that it has been pruned well beyond the boundary and that the arisings have been dumped in your garden and you do not want them. It could be costly to go down the private prosecution route so make sure your tree does not encroach over the boundary in the future. As said try to get the tree officer to attach a tpo to it. In situations like this you need to make sure you are whiter than white, play by the book & keep your cool.
  12. Filofax for me, I find I retain more info if I write it down rather than type it into a tablet. When I go to look at a job I have a customer detail sheet which I fill out while on site so I then only have to enter that info on a quote template on the computer.
  13. I always ask the customer to clear up prior to us doing the job & always have poo bags with me if I have pick it up myself. I have found that they pay quicker too if you have picked up for them as they tend to be a little embarrassed.
  14. Prices in that part of London a few years back were around £750 upwards plus vat for 3 staff, truck & chipper. If you have not worked in the Knightsbridge area before my advice would be to go & look at the job, I know it's a pain but you will get to see where the property is located & all the restrictions that are in place. Nothing worse than taking all your kit up there to find you can't do the job as you need a parking dispensation or the likes. You can pretty much guarantee they will be big trees in a small garden with little or no parking, possibly on a bus route, red route, double yellows, no stopping etc. Access from the front to the rear of properties in London are mostly a nightmare if there is access which then means through the house. If the property is converted to flats you may have to use a communal hallway/ stairway. I can tell you now that it will be a three man job without even looking at it. The list of variables in London is endless. You may have guessed I have worked in that part of London for many years, thankfully not any more.
  15. Hi Will, there are a few assumptions there in your post that are incorrect fella where my little operation is concerned & I was worried you may tar me with the same brush as our door knocking transient communities. If I'm doing trees, always at least two, all fully certificated up the eyeballs all kit lolered, insurance, risk assessments, method statement, health & safety policy etc. I lone work on my grounds maintenance contracts, small hedges, strimming etc. You can stop rolling your eyes, being confused & worrying that I'm not complying with HSE regs.
  16. Yeah, in the early days I got caught out a couple of times. Not anymore.
  17. Same here, I am fortunate in that I have a friend local to me who is a self employed arb, just have to make sure I book him in early. I do like working on my own though.
  18. That was a big un Rich. Looks like it ran real smooth. I liked the aspect from the drone, it added another dimension to it.
  19. I've just seen you ont telly. Nice little feature.
  20. 😆 that's all I have to say about that.
  21. 5 foot 11, 12.5 stone, my BMI used to be 12 when I was 16 stone & trained a lot but don't know what it is now.
  22. Thanks for info, probably not worth the time or effort then.
  23. I don't think it will ruin it, they are a light powerful saw ideal for carving.
