  1. Hello knowledgable ones, just after confirmation that I have correctly id'd the image below as Phaeolus schweinitzii. The tree in the image is a spruce, & located close to a new extension on a commercial property. Will the tree have to be removed as I understand this fungus causes brown cubical heart rot & can cause the stem to collapse.

    Disco 2 tyres

I put a set of Cooper Discoverer STT's on my truck last week, really impressed with them, very little road noise considering they are mud terrain, went a little off road down a muddy track the other day & didn't need to put the truck in 4 wheel drive.
  3. Burning sycamore, ash, oak & a bit of cherry this winter. My mate on the other hand burns body parts all year round. (Works at a medical incinerator)
  4. I'am but one & contract in when I need to which gives me the flexibility for work/life balance. If I were to employ then I would have the responsibility & stress of keeping the volume of work coming in, which in turn would mean I would be busier thus affecting my work/life balance.
  5. My lead times used to vary from a few days to a couple of weeks, but this year I have been booked on average 4 - 8 weeks in advance with no complaints about waiting or losing jobs.

    groundie pay

Unfortunately you are worth what someone is willing to pay, but having said that make sure you are the best groundy out there, & they can't do without you, then you can command a higher day rate.
  7. Even if it is kiln dried, which by the looks of it is very doubtful, the shipping containers are awful for condensation, so probably not the best method for transporting logs.
  8. Thats a good price, who delivered.
  9. I live in the south east, and belong to an oil club, and we paid 54p a litre back in April this year. I try to get topped up well before winter as it is usually cheaper.
  10. If he is keen & works hard, where's the problem?
  11. I had a similar situation a few weeks back with a dead eucy & submitted a 5 day notice & tree officer replied saying we don't do that any more, you need to submit the intention for works in a conservation area but no other info. Good to know now reading this that a risk based assessment is the correct procedure. Good post
  12. Can you trim my bush always gets a snigger.
  13. Im on a roll. 200 year old oak, can you get rid of it, the leaves are blocking my gutters. The house was ten year old & was the neighbours tree.
  14. Another one, "you can't cut that tree down", "Its dead" "No it isn't"
  15. I was pruning a neighbours birch a while ago & another neighbour shouted out the window " I've got a power cut, how come you haven't." Then she proceeded to tell me I'd cut the power cable, "no, they are underground."
  16. I use the curved Zubat for larger stuff & the straight Tsurugi for finer tight cuts. I do like the action of a curved saw, I tend not to get it stuck as much.

    Santana PS10

Hello Rich, I came across it a few months back as the Vauxhall stopped working. Its a pick up & managed to source a ifor canopy for the back, got it from National Trust so super low mileage. Having never driven a 4x4 or a tractor I would imagine its more like a tractor. Fun to drive though. Hope things are good with you & yours.

    Santana PS10

I have been in touch recently, they sold all their spares to Perth Auto Services but no brake discs.

    Santana PS10

The company has closed but the factory still has all the equipment to start production. I think Iveco realised they would have been in direct competition with the Massif with their own 4x4. I think the PS10 sold quite well in the UK but most of the dealers were up north & parts are slowly running out. Since owning a pick up version I see them quite a lot, Parts are a mish mash of more common vehicles, like ford & suzuki, but some are like rocking horse poo to obtain. There is a company in Spain who sell parts for them but at 250 euros for two brake discs is a bit steep. The parts are one reason I was thinking of starting a dedicated forum & generally share knowledge.
  21. Not much you can do. Should keep you on your toes though. Nothing like a bit of healthy competition.

    Santana PS10

Hello people, I was just wondering if anybody on here owns a Santana PS10. I'm not interested in comparing with other 4x4's etc, or the history of the brand, or anything land rover related. My reason for asking is that there are no owners forums on the net, so was thinking of starting one.

    Tpo area

Whether it can be enforced or not, always good not to upset the tree officer.
  24. I had a felling fail some years ago which bought a bt line down, phoned them straight away & engineer was on site within three hours, line fixed within 30 mins, bank balance £140 lighter & customer never knew. To say I was surprised at how efficient bt were is an understatement.
