  1. Hello people, My friends shop in East Sussex got turned over on Tuesday night with a substantial amount of non professional garden machinery taken. They stole Efco, Tanaka & Mitox hedge trimmers, strimmers, chainsaws, multi tools & blowers. The majority is brand new & still in boxes with some display equipment taken aswell. They also stole several customers chainsaws which had been in for repair. They also stole his sons first push bike which holds great sentimental value. If on the off chance anyone gets offered or sees these items for sale, please do the right thing & report to the police, it may prevent someone else getting turned over. Keep your kit as safe as possible. Thanks for taking the time to read.
  2. That is truly awesome. 👍
  3. Not quite in the same league as some of these posts, but enough to give me the right hump. I live at the end of a Cul de sac our main garden is fenced off from a small wooded area that we own & a few weeks ago I caught our regular chimney sweep parked up throwing bags of soot in our wooded area. After a few choice words from me, he trampled through the brambles to get them.
  4. Stumbled across this bad boy today on an Oak stump. I believe it's pseudoinonotus dryadeus, it was about 20 inches wide.
  5. Must be the season, came across these in the last couple of weeks in East Sussex. I thought I would take pics on a weekly basis to see how they develop. This is on an apple This on a Scots pine that failed some years ago. This one has developed in a week and a tree I keep an eye on a weekly basis. The Oak has basal cavities with old fungal brackets around the other side.
  6. I had a similar issue last year, so looked into it to clarify. Dual purpose vehicles with a gross weight of 3000kgs class 4. ( double cab, super cab pick ups, vans etc) Vehicles with a gross weight of 3000kgs to 3500kgs class 7. ( single cab pick ups, vans, tippers, all 4x4s. That's right even your Landy should be class 7 mot if it falls into the weight category apart from station wagons. Some vehicles come up on the system as a class 4 but are really a class 7 like mine does. For a few extra quid it's worth getting the right mot just in case you get pulled or an accident.
  7. Put it in the f**k it bucket & move on.😀
  8. We moved in around 4 year ago & thought it was a natural pond as the house used to be a milking shed but last summer I got talking to the chap who dug it out back in the 70's. There is no filtration I just let nature do its thing with it apart from clearing the banks & it seems to do quite well. I do like your future pond plans though.
  9. Mine have just finished spawning which is later than last year. They were also later to come up from winter this year aswell, but my pond is over 6 feet in places & we are located at the bottom of the Rother valley so takes a bit longer to warm up. Nice looking pond Big J, if you get water irises growing, keep on top of them as they can take over. Here's a few pics of mine, I let it go a bit wild until the end of summer as we get masses of wildlife, including great crested & common newts. We have the local ecology group come in every couple of years to check how the great created are doing. This is my pond over winter.
  10. I am looking for sub contract experienced climber and grounds person in East Sussex to help me out on the occasional larger works. The usual certificates are a must, PM me if interested.

    Pain

I suffer from lower back pain & found osteo & Pilates effective.
  12. I would say Apricot aswell, very similar bark & leaf to one I prune on a regular basis.
  13. If you are working under UK employment law then you need to speak to ACAS about this immediately. My take on it would be if your employee has a contract with the other employer & sustained an injury while undertaking their duties for this employer then they are responsible for sick pay, however, if the injury was sustained outside of any contractual hours with either company then the main employer would be responsible for sick pay/ SSP.

    Tree Neglect

Just found another one where this Beech has grown around a garden statue.

    Tree Neglect

This is an interesting one along the drive to a small estate I manage. The bank has eroded and looks like the Oak is about to take a walk.
  16. Try this link, hope it helps. https://www.hayter.co.uk/handbook_files/111-5824-A%20Operators%20Manual.pdf
  17. It is unreasonable to ask employees to use holiday entitlement to undertake further training which will in turn benefit your business. Training should be treated as any other working day whether the training is undertaken away or on site.
  18. Hi Alec, you know your saws. This particular saw came into my friends shop for refurb & I was able to have a good look at it before they worked on it. It's definitely an original 090 as it has had a new 6 shoe clutch, the recoil starter housing is huge although I thought it would be heavier than it was. My friend remembers it used to come to his shop years ago for regular servicing so it has provenance. Thanks once again for the info, it's been very helpful.
  19. Thank you for the info.
  20. I'll keep an eye on that, thank you.
  21. Morning everyone, I have been offered a stihl 090. This model has no chain brake & no AV so is pretty old & has just been refurbished to get it working as it has been sat in a garage for years & has been worked regularly in the past so is not pristine. I've been given a price but just asking for a ball park figure what others would pay for one.
  22. One of my elderly regular customers asked recently if I could 'trim the bush around her glory hole'. She was referring to a sheltered seating area in her garden.
  23. I would expect the person leaving site on an emergency to inform me they were leaving site so I could make the decision on whether to arrange transport for them or if they could arrange their own transport & this would be dependant on the location of the job, the finances available to the person with the emergency. I would not expect anyone else to leave site to take them until speaking to me first, as the business owner, the decision lies with me as to who leaves the job to assist. If the person leaving was an employee then I would expect them to use holiday entitlement for the time away from the job & if it were a subby then I would expect an invoice for the time on site only.
  24. I got the Norwegian wood aswell. Turn to page 116, it's quite amusing.
