  1. Hi steve, thanks for your offer, but no its something that i can do. Its just that i need to get some forstner bits that size. On another note, is it possible to use forstner / drill bits in a lathe. I've never done any lathe work, but its something i keep thinking about, so the more i could use it for the better.
  2. Hi I've been asked to make some pencil holders for a school nursery. The pictures they have shown me, just show hollowed out 100mm diameter (approx) logs with the centres hollowed out approx 75mm diameter and 100mm deep, if that makes sense. So what i'm after is some large wood bits that are ideal for hollowing out end grain. I know a few of you recommend the dewalt self feed bits. Are these the best or are there any alternatives. The sizes i'm after at the moment will be between 50 and 75mm and will need to go about 100mm deep. Thanks in advance H
  3. Oh jesus, here we go again, my my. My brains frazzled, my eyes have ran out of tears. wasn't expecting that.
  4. I can fondly remember watching wrestling with my grandad in the 70's when i was a bit younger. Did charlie williams also wrestle for a bit, i know he was a bit of an all rounder when it came to sport.
  5. Thank god i'm finally divorced, hated the whole lot of in laws with a passion.
  6. i got a nice fuji film xp90 camera. Its not the most sophisticated camera, but its ideal for what i want it for, so really happy with it.
  7. happy with my mak 9010 and dolly 350
  8. mines going to be picking up my daughters later on and having them overnight and all tomorrow.
  9. I work for the nhs at a mental health hospital as a joiner doing maintenance work on the hospital and any other building that we own / rent / occupy. The amount of money that i see wasted daily is incredible. Most of it by managers squabbling and office staff acting like kids. One of my biggest bugbears is office relocation's. Every time a person moves office they insist on taking their own desk, own notice boards, clocks you name it we have to move it. And its not uncommon for whole departments to move at least twice a year. After each move each block is then refurbished for the next lot, who then may be only in it for a month before they then move again, and then its another revamp. The list is totally endless. contractors doing work and then im having to put it right. suppliers putting mark up on things just because its the nhs I could go on but you get the picture. The nurses on the front line devote everything to their job, the managers mmmm????
  10. Nice job. Dont know what you actually do for a living, but i reckon you could make a bob or two designing, making and installing them.
  11. normally skim through the sun / star during the week at work, at weekends its either nothing or sometimes the yorkshire post.
  12. how much softwood waste do you have ? Is it tree waste, joinery off cuts ? is it clean wood ? do you have access to any machinery ?
  13. Bloody hell, i think i need to up my game a bit, lol. I normally end up scrounging round the log pile in november, and finish them about now. forestgough, thanks for the tip on the cutter, that sounds just the job for me, although i shall still glue as well. cheers for the feed back chaps. your outfits put me to shame, lol.
  14. Delabodge, love all the deers, how long did all that lot take to make.
  15. Can i just ask, what glue does everyone use for the gluing the legs in and head on etc. I use that gorilla glue but find it messy and time consuming. just wondered how everyone fixed all the parts together.
  16. How much are people generally charging for their snowmen and reindeer. I was thinking about £15, but is that too cheap.
  17. How do people light these and keep them going. I made a couple last year just to try, but i cant get them to stay alight. They are seasoned and dry as well.
  18. Yes i got one and use it plenty of times. Its not a replacement for a workmate, for me they are 2 different things. I asked the same question on here a while back. Wouldnt be without it now. i got mine from tool station and got the log jaws to go with it.
  19. treat yourself to a new one and keep that for everyone else to use. Needs a new blade on it though.
  20. Sorry, but practical jokes of any kind are out of the picture for me, i hate them. Any one goes near my tools or my food, and thats it, red rag and dont give damn, ive thrown hammers at people, thrown chairs out of room. I dont go to work, so effing idiots can have 'fun'. I dont do it to them so dont do it to me. I dont mind small banter, but thats it.
  21. I have 2 thermos flasks, 1 is a blue thermos 'work' one the other a cheaper black/grey one. I wont use any other.
